screen pass

I watched several games this weekend and focused on how offenses handle the blitz. I know this is repeated constantly, but the screen pass was the most used weapon against an effective pass rush.

You can see just how much other teams use this play and it is was mainly RB screens. I taped the Oakland game and they did a good job with McFaddden and Fargas.

DC's dont need to even gameplan such a play with Dallas, so there is never even a second thought about how they want to pressure.

What is the problem with this team and their inability to run a screen pass???

I really wish we would run it more.

Teams blitz the crap out of us and they expect our backs to stay in to block.

When we run screens its often to a receiver or tight end. Which is fine with me.

The only 2 guys we have that aren't good at getting out on screens is Davis and Flo and even they aren't just horrible at it.

If it were me i'd definetely throw in a few a game when they are obviously going to blitz.

My biggest issue with Garrett is his use or non use of the RB in the passing game!

I agree. It is not as if Dallas never throws screen we do be it the WR, TE and RB but we do not run them often. It is something I would like to see a bit more of.

I think a lot of it has to do with how Norv called the plays in the 90's.

In the 90's, as good as we were, we couldn't run a screen against a high school team with success.

I think that philosiphy has carried out over the years because this team has shown to be good at screens when given the opportunity.

Instead we run a lot of draws but its much easier to recover on a draw than a screen.

It just seems obvious to me that it should be more of a staple in our Offense.

I think the fact Norv was dealing with a massive Offensive line and those guys were not overly agile in the open field played a big part. Norv did try to run some screens back then but was not very successful doing it. In his defense though with that offense and those players there was never a big need to run screens putting up points was not a big struggle for them

It is such a great play call especially when teams just pin their ears back and sell out to get the the QB. Tenn does a great job runnning it with Johnson. Only makes sense we would try it with Felix. If you remember we ran it really effectively in the 1st half of the Denver game then totally abandoned it.

Calling any type of pass that combats an allout pass rush or blitz is a problem. We did a great job of that against Philly, and I was hoping that would continue, but it's dried up since.

Remember the 1st play of the Carolina game?

Screen to Felix... Gain of about 40.

It seems like a no brainer to me that you would want to try and get Felix out in open space as much as possible.
