Screw the defense !!

The offense is finally getting much needed attention. Lets be honest....the cowboys future rides with Tony Romo and Garrett and Turner are probably the best 1-2 combo out there for developing a QB.

The defense has basically been loaded with 1st round picks for the better part of 10 years. Jones then brings in one the better defensive coaches in history of football and they still tank. I say to he!! with them. Let them grow-up on their own for once. They dont need a nasty DC...what they need is a nasty player on defense who is a leader. I think it is much more important to bring in FA defensive player with leadership qualities than it is to hire a Singletary or DC of that mentality.

Why not do both? Singletary could be just what the defense needs at this point and we are in need of a DC.

here is a concept: how bout players who motivate each other. The eagles defensive players would meet at each others house to break-down film (no coaches were present) and personally hold each other accountable for poor play. Trottier and Dawkins lead this and the defense became a success over night. What will turn this defense around is not a new DC....it will be a new player who commands respect and has the ability to "will" the other players to be better.

Right now we do not have any DC and we do need to hire one. Who ever it is I would hope they can communicate to the players what they need to do to become better players

I agree, we need a "Ray Lewis" type attitude in some of our defensive players.

Someone needs to demand supreme effort from others by their play on the field.

I don't see anyone doing that now.

I don't mean by a quote to the media, I mean by demanding it in practice and in games.

I'm not so sure a CB can do it anyways.

I did see some fire from Carpenter in the playoff game, but we can't expect a part-time rookie to lead our defense.

Who's to say that Newman didn't do it in practice and in the games?

Rod Woodson was a CB (pre-ACL injury) who played the role you are describing.

The tragedy is that we thought that Burnett and/or James might develop into "that guy."

The whole thing makes you miss guys like Woody and Dat.

The problem is worse because I think James still thinks of himself as that guy, but regressed horribly last year. There's no doubt in my mind he is who T-New was talking about when he mentioned guys need to shut and play.

Its tough to whip other guys into shape when opposing QB's are pointing out how lost you look on the field, and continuing to run your mouth as it happens only makes it worse.

Could care less about this Defense right now...They need so much to be decent it's just pathetic.

Let them be good on their own. If they can't do that then oh well not many people are counting on them to step up after last season anyways.
