Screwed by the game switch

I missed most of the 4th quarter because my local affiliate switched to the a closer game, GB/Minn. I get so PO'd that I pay for the Sunday Ticket and still end up missed a portion of the only game I really care to see.

The affiliate's blaming the NFL and the NFL is blaming the affiliate.

Whose fault is it and who should I go after?

That depends. Are you going after them with a keyboard, or an M16?:D

Screwed here as well. The sad part is the Cowboys game is shown locally here, so when they pre-empted it, I walked across the street to watch at a sports bar... not realizing that it's pre-empted even with Sunday Ticket. :(

Here's an Email I just sent to Directv:

I ordered Directv over my local cable television provider for one reason, and one reason only: NFL Sunday Ticket.

I don't live where my favorite team is normally broadcast, so I have the ticket to watch the games.

Today (9/30/07), the game was shown locally on Fox, meaning it was blacked out on the Sunday Ticket channel #708.

At about 3:30est, the local Fox affiliate switched from the Cowboys Rams game to another game.

I then switched to the Sunday Ticket channel #708, thinking that the game would then be available - and it wasn't.

I can understand why games aren't shown in the 700's when they are being broadcast locally, but when the games that are shown locally get changed, then I expect to be able to watch the my team on the Directv 700's channel.
If memory serves, I pay about $250.00 for that right.

To make matters worse, when I call 1-800-Directv to speak to someone, I spend about 30 minutes on and off hold, only to be disconnected.

I am very, very, very displeased with what has happened today, and I would like to know what your company plans on doing about it.

Call DTV's retention dept and not the regular CSR's.

Once you're with retention, tell them that you're upset that you pay all that money to watch your favorite team yet still can't see them play all of their games.

The outcome: they'll give you free crap. Maybe a month or two of programming or upgrades.

Call them if you don't believe me:

Both are at fault. The affiliate for making the switch and the NFL for adopting a rule not allowing DirectTV to unlock blacked out channels when games are switched. You should take on both as well as DirectTV telling them you expect a resolution to this problem. All I could get today was a $15rebate from Direct TV and that took an hour.

Told me it is not their fault.....did nothing for me and told me to blame the NFL.

That sucks alot.

Seems like it only happened in certain areas?

I watched up until abot 6 minutes left in the 4th from the Sports Bar, and it was still on.

Hmmm, never lost the game at all here in Ohio. However, that has happened to me before. At least you didn't miss anything, other than Brad Johnson handing off to Tyson Thompson and Buck and Aikman saying that Red will be a HC next season.

I watched it on DTV and had no issue. They played game for me all the way through. But I was out of market. I sense this was an issue for in market teams and games...

The NFL won't air a game on the ticket that another affiliate is broadcasting.

It could be worse. If your team is the local team and they really suck, then they don't sell out and even the NFL ticket is blacked out. The Buffalo Bills are exactly that. A crap team that needs to sell almost 80,000 seats to sell out. Their blackout area is bigger than any other NFL team. 90 miles.

I believe it was an issue for people who live outside of the Dallas market, but whose local affiliates carried the Dallas game.

The Dallas affiliate wouldn't have switched to a new game.
