This guy is talking about breaking ALL the records too... He was wishing upon 2200 yds total, which is eclipsing Dickerson's 84 record of 2,105... and maybe breaking Priest's 03 record of 27 TDs in a season which happened to break good ol #22s record of 25 back from 1995. We gotta swarm to the ball, big time! This young D is going to get a taste of a serious running back.

I feel ya bro! Tomlinson is a beast, and if the Cowboys are to win, then stopping LT is a must. We must disrupt Drew Brees and definitely get to Tomlinson. If we can tee off on Brees and make them one dimensional, then we can stack the box. The key is to stop that running game.

Roy Williams will play a HUGE factor in the running game.

Yes he will. He will be playing very close to the line of scrimmage and Zimmer and Parcells will have a number of blitz packages set up and ready to key on Brees and LT. We saw nothing in preseason. It's on now.

I can see Roy blowing up Tomlinson a couple times behind the line of scrimmage before it's all said and done.

There is no stopping LT, we can only hope to contain him.

No question in my mind SD is going to test Ware and run cutbacks to his side. He has got caught a few times pinching inside and giving up some big plays, this is what I fear most.

The key to the game in my mind is turnovers. I really think we need to be plus 2 to win this game.

We have a lot of young guys out there who will be playing for the first time and making some mistakes.

Turnovers is the antidote.

I do agree though we have have to stack the line of scrimmage and rely on our improved secondary to play well. Containg LT is definetly the main priority, and hope he does not hurt us to bad.

The only problem here is LT is great at screens and slipping out on patterns, which can stop us real quick from getting to aggresive. LT is a bad man, and one hell of a nightmare.

Turnovers, Turnovers, Turnovers

Hey Fletch.

Who do you think it was stopped LT dead in his tracks last January in the Jets-Chargers playoff game when Schottenheimer stupidly reverted back to Marty Ball, after a full season of allowing the run to play off the pass?

I'll give you a hint.

He is now on this team, and tho he won't be starting next Sunday, he WILL be playing.

Jason Ferguson OWNS Ladian Tomlinson.

And that secondary...doesn't look upgraded one whit.

That fool Jerry Wilson who let so-called Noodle Arm Pennington air him out is still starting at free safety.

If you want any more info on how the Jets beat them, just ask. :lmao2:

My biggest fear on Defense has nothing to do with Demarcus Ware......it has alot more to do with Davis than Ware.

Their secondary is awful:

Quentin Jammer should be called "toast"

Terence Kiel makes Roy's coverage skills look like All-Pro status

Sammy Davis gets worn out more than Pamela Amderson

Freakin awesome news LTN! You are so very right. Champsheart is right in a sense, LT is a bad man, but he can be stopped. Thanks for bringing that up.

I also think Drew Bledsoe could have a pretty good game vs. the Chargers. I really do.

Their nickle back is an infamous Dolphin bust - Jamar Fletcher.

Their real asset is that they returned all 22 starters (of course Gates is out next week). And they are in their second year of the 3-4, not the first.

So they are gelled, much more so than we are.

True. Oh, and before I forget, congrats on your 9,001 and posts. Several thousand more and then some, and you'll be at nipping at Hos's heels. :p:

I still think our defense, with our youth and hunger will show up.

Well, it will be interesting to see what Marty does - even after winning those coaching honors last year, he took a beating over that playoff game plan,

Three straight draws again. LOL

I think HE will be dangerous as a result. Because who can say how his last loss has impacted him.

But his fatal error in that one was getting away from what he had done all year..anti - Marty ball, trust Brees to open up the run.

We'll see. But I think he will want to exploit our secondary from the get-go.

Without Gates, a 35 year old McCardell is the most dangerous receiver, isn't he?

I was speaking solely on stopping LT and the running game, maybe you are to not sure. Davis does not really worry me in the running game.

Regardless I love Ware, and look forward to watching him all over Brees, but His tendency to pinch inside has been a problem in the Pre-Season if you have been watching.

I have no doubt this will not be a problem as time goes on, but out the gate there is no other back I know who can make you pay for that mistake than LT.

I am not concerned about Tomlinson running wild on us. What concerns me and what should be job #1 for the Cowboys is scoring TDs early and creating turnovers.

If we start out slowly, going 3-&-out or settling for FGs then it will be a long season. If we play Zimmer's usual BBDB where we try to limit what the offense gains then we are in for an even longer season.

Julius Jones has to be effective running the ball, the O-Line has to open holes for him as well as give Bledsoe all day to throw, because he takes all day, and the defense has to make big plays. We do those things and we'll have a great year.

I'm not at all worried about what any other player might do against us.

Although this D is real young, i like their chances against LT. LIke LTN said, Jason Ferguson will help plug up that middle. And the speed of this defense will be able to stop him from getting to the perimeter. I would expect an avg. 100 yard game from LT...if that makes sense. But i wouldnt expect him to kill us.

wasn't it faulks record priest broke? I was hopping we'd get jammer in that draft. He hasn't showed a thing at all, and we all know what Roy does. I'd love to see him blow up LT a couple times. Lt is definately the best, I hope we can contain him. I think Bledsoe has a good game against that secondary. I think alot of the game is going to hinge on Brees' game. We shut him down, we win. I think with that line we can keep LT under control.

that's exactly where he'll kill us if he's going to. I'm not worried about stopping the run straight up. For once in a decade, we're finally BIG, STRONG, quick, and DEEP on the DL. I'm not that concerned about stopping the run. Its those darn screens and flare out patterns that SD and LT will kill us with. We have a real hard time defending those. Leon Lett used to neutralize them but no other DT of ours has learned to snuff them out like he did.
The igglets kill us with screens all the time too. It makes me so furious. Its either pass to TO or a screen pass over and over and over.....

It will be interesting to see what Brees does without Gates. They are going to try and make LT run wild, so the run D better be ready.

I won't mind if he breaks a couple here and there, but I don't want him averaging 5 yds a pop every carry. Also, both offenses practice aainst the 3/4, so it should be a wash, except for the fact we have better players and they have more experience.

.........hopefully our corners can cover one on one.......leaving at least Roy to prowl, he is the one to sniff out the screens, delay draw,

s/be a good game for youngsters, will learn alot, the vets will be teaching along w/ the coaches all game long.......
