Plenty of mock drafts have shied away from the idea of the Dallas Cowboys taking a quarterback with the fourth overall pick, but not this one.

Pat Kirwan of Real Football has the Cowboys taking California's Jared Goff No. 4, and explains how the team can keep him for seven years, long after Tony Romo's left the NFL.

"If the Cowboys take a QB in the first round they can franchise tag him at least twice, which makes Goff a Cowboy for a minimum of seven years. I'm pretty sure Tony Romo can't play that long."

In the second round, Kirwan has the Cowboys taking Florida defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard.

I'd be very happy about those first two. Would probably want Butler or Dodd at 34, but Bullard is high on my list and the one most likely to be there imo.

liking Butler but i have my doubt his there at 34

I don't think he is which is why I've rarely mentioned him lately. Not long ago I had hopes for Rankins or Butler to be there for us, but imo, that's not going to happen now with either one. Bullard and maybe Dodd could be available at our pick though and I would be content with either. Maybe Reed falls as well with all the talented DL in that area. The DL needs help and I don't really care if it's from the inside or outside at this point.

I'd be happy with Wentz, Goff, or Lynch. After those 3 I don't even know if I would want the Cowboys to draft a QB...

I know I don't. All that someone like a Prescott will do is make the team feel like they have invested something in them and entice them to kick the can down the road further in future years.

If you are "all in" with Romo, then act like it. Don't toe dip with developmental QBs that cloud the waters. Kill the deficiencies you see around him.
