ROUND 1 PICK #27 (27 overall)
Maurkice Pouncey OG/OC Florida
Previous pick (Jared Odrick | DE | PSU)
I'm starting to fear many of the prospects I have had pegged in the past for this spot will be gone based on the trends I have been seeing. I dont believe in trading down just to trade down and collect picks but this might be a situation where it's needed to find value. Because I dont like to predict trades I'm starting to feel Pouncey would be the best fit. He is not just a OC as I'm seeing written on this board. He has played OG for Florida and many feel it might be his more natural position. There have even been rumblings from scouts that he has the feet and size to play OT at the next level. Either way, Maurkice is a naturally gifted athlete who can fill multiple rolls along the OL.

Other Options:
Brandon Spikes ILB Florida
Nate Allen FS South Florida
Kyle Wilson CB Boise St
ROUND 2 PICK #27 (59 overall)
Morgan Burnett FS Georgia Tech
Previous pick (Vladimir Ducasee | OT | Mass)
At some point in this draft Dallas must find a play making Safety. The one Achilles heal of this defense is the Safeties ability to make plays. Burnett had what some would consider a let down Junior year after breaking out as a Sophomore but he still ended his career at Tech with 14 INT's despite leaving early. He is a ball hawk with great feet and smarts. Many scouts believe Burnett is athletic enough and talented enough to play either Safety position. Wade Phillips is hesitant to part way with Ken Hamlin because of his understanding of the defense and ability to understand the roll of each player. Burnett can make that decision easier.

Other Options:
Daryl Washington ILB TCU
Devin McCourty CB Rutgers
Taylor Price WR Ohio
ROUND 3 PICK #26 (90 overall)
Carlton Mitchell WR South Florida
Previous pick (no change)
This year more then any I can remember there are more names at WR on fans wish list. There seems to be no fan favorite front runner. Mitchell's measurable make scouts drool. At 6'4" 220 pounds and a estimated 40 time of 4.45 (Mitchell promises a sub 4.4 before the draft) he has everything you look for in a WR. I also have reason to believe (as I always point out, I'm not playing a insider) there is deep interest on the part of the Cowboys and I'm not just saying that because his name has been mentioned among the players the staff has scoped out. Jerry is once again playing his "no WR" card but I'm not buying it or at least not in the 3rd round. Austin, Williams and Crayton likely have the top 3 spots wrapped up. Ogletree has solidified his spot as the 4th WR. Jerry has his eye open just in case year 3 of the Roy Williams experiment turns out to be a repeat of years 1 and 2.

Other Options:
Alex Carrington DE Arkansas St
Javier Arenas CB Alabama
Rodger Saffold OT Indiana
ROUND 4 PICK #27 (122 overall)
Lamarr Houston DT Texas
Previous pick (Chris Cook|CB|Virginia)
No I'm not trying to replace or move Jay Ratliff but I do feel depth needs a serious injection of talent and go forbid Ratliff goes down how many people would feel comfortable with JR assuming the full time starting status? Houston can also play DE as he has proven in the past. Houston has a great motor and is made in the Jay Ratliff mold. He has great feet, quickness and uses his hands well. He has great upper body strength and should leave jaws on the floor after the lifting section of the combine. Does have a 2008 arrest for DWI that will drop him on some boards but is high character overall.

Other Options:
Ben Tate RB Auburn
Kyle Calloway OT Iowa
Akwasi Owusu-Ansah CB Indiana(PA)
ROUND 6 PICK #27 (186 overall)
Chris Scott OT Tennessee
Previous pick (Robert Johnson|FS|Utah)
At some point in this draft if they dont do it early they need to take a stab at finding a future OT. Scott is one of the better OT that no one is talking about. Despite working with a rag tag unit at Tennesse Scott quietly had a stellar year but still has a lot of growth to do. Luckily for Dallas Doug Free stepped up this year and made the position less of one of need and more of short term concern. Scott started his career at RG before moving to LT so again, versatility is key. 2-3 years down the road this is the kind of player and pick teams look back on and give scouts props for finding such an elite player so late in the draft.

Other Options:
Micah Johnson ILB Kentucky
Cameron Sheffield OLB Troy
Brian Jackson CB Oklahoma
ROUND 7 PICK #26 (217 overall)
Stephan Virgil CB Virginia Tech
Previous pick (John Estes|C|Hawaii)
At this point in the draft your hoping to find a diamond in the rough, a special teams contributor who can fill in and maybe even a developmental player who can some day be an every down starter in the NFL. Virgil offers all of these. Primarily a special teams ace until 2008 Virgil stepped up with 8 INT's while continuing his special teams thrills with 2 blocked punts. In 2009 all hopes of a repeat performance were put on hold after suffering a knee injury and failing to regain his health of form. If not for the injury it's possible we would be talking about this young man in the 2nd or 3rd round. His athletic ability, speed and skill set in addition to 08' film review may boost his stock before the draft.

Other Options:
Leigh Tiffin K Alabama
Josh Hull ILB PSU
Drew Davis OT Alabama
I wanted to get a better idea of who realistically might be on the board when the Cowboys pick instead of just taking my value board and picking and choosing.
Based on the scenario's and trends I noticed this is what I came up with.
This will be the last update before the Combine. So much is about to change and it's exciting.
See you all after the combine!
Enjoy

OTHER COMMENTS
To get prepared for this one I completed several 32 team 4 round mocks as well as started to put together my own Mock Draft Muncher (I'm not a fan of the one's on the net, they take into account to many sub-par mocks).
