Jets | Financial agreement reached with Branch; trade with Patriots next obstacle
Fri, 1 Sep 2006 10:08:08 -0700
<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/9">ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports New England Patriots WR Deion Branch has reached an agreement with the New York Jets on a long-term deal that meets his contract demands. However, the Jets still would need to come to an agreement with the Patriots to acquire Branch.

Well I guess the Pats plans to let Branch go out and see that nobody would pay more for him backfired.

We will just have to see if one of the teams has enough ammo to make the trade happen.

Or that Bill Billichek has bought into the cheese being doled out by the media. I guess we have to see how this works out for NE.

Personally, I think Little Bill buys too much into the media hype of him turning apples into oranges.

As long as Brady is their QB they can afford to be cheap with their "philosophy".

You can only so much with a even a great QB. You just can't surround him with Mediocre talent and except them him to make something out of nothing.

Not even the great Brady (genuflect) can get crappy WRs open. He likes his top WR, like Bledsoe likes Glenn. He even lobbied for him. Brady isn't making any pretenses about how important he thinks Branch is to his team.

I think the Seahawks can get the trade done. A #1 from them should not be that big of a deal.

A #1 from the Jets could very well get you the best player available in next years draft.

Hmm...I wonder which #1 the Patriots would rather have???

The Seahawks and the Jets have agreed to terms with Deion Branch on seperate contract offers.

Now comes the hard part: Trade compensation. Seattle would make a lot more sense because they are outside the division. Profootballtalk.com reports the Patriots would receive a second-round pick and a "pretty good" player in return. Boston.com reports of Seattle's involvement. It would be interesting to see if Seattle would send a receiver back.

I think the Jets are just being smart and trying to drag this thing out with one of their divisional foes.

It would be like us reaching an agreement with Santanna Moss and taking are sweet time to workout a deal with him.

If the Jets get him then they win.

If they can drag this out and cause Deion Branch to not get on the field they still win.

Well, the Jets would be stupid to do this because they need all the #1 draft choices they can get!!!

Seattle on the otherhand... Nahh, I still wouldn't.

I don't think the Jets have any intention of getting Branch. I think they are just playing Chess to force the Patriots to pay more for him. Squeeze the Patriots by squeezing their pocket book.

Please let it be the Jets and not the Seahawks.

Tell me about it. The Seahawks are good enough as it is, the NFC does not need them adding a reciever like Branch to the fold.
