The Seattle Seahawks will start the 2019 campaign without a key piece of their defensive line.

Defensive lineman Jarran Reed has been suspended six games for a violation of the personal conduct policy for an incident from early 2017, the league announced Monday. He was not charged or arrested.

Reed's appeal was denied Friday morning, per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Apparently a DV case. He caught the same as Elliot did. Not sure about the details but it happened in 2017. Looks like goodell is staying the course.

Seattle has one of the worst Dlines in football now with Clark and now Reed gone, not to mention Bennett, Richardson and Avril having left the past year.

Reed underwent sports-hernia surgery in April, an issue he dealt with during the 2018 season while putting up impressive numbers, and appeared on track to be ready for training camp. His availability for the regular-season, however, has been put on hold.

The suspension is a brutal blow to the Seahawks, who were expecting a big season from Reed. The 26-year-old is coming off a breakout campaign in 2018 in which he compiled 10.5 sacks and 50 tackles in 16 regular-season starts.

The 2016 second-round pick enters the final year of his rookie deal and was a candidate for an extension. Whether the suspension alters those plans remains to be seen.

After the trade of Frank Clark this offseason, the Seahawks appeared poised to lean on Reed and rising stud Poona Ford on the interior to push the pocket while manufacturing pressure from the outside with youngsters like first-round pick L.J. Collier. Those plots are on hold for at least six games now.

The Seahawks will be without a key piece of their defensive line to start the season as defensive tackle Jarran Reed will be suspended for six games for violating the league's personal conduct policy, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.

Reed's suspension is in relation to a 2017 incident when a woman reported to police that Reed assaulted her in late April. Bellevue police investigated the situation and Reed was not charged or arrested.

A 2016 second-round pick, Reed was second on the team last year with 10.5 sacks, trailing only Frank Clark, who was traded to the Chiefs earlier this offseason.

Reed appealed the suspension, but that appeal was reportedly denied Friday.

Had to pay Russell Wilson even though he was down the list of reasons why they were a championship team.
then again, they also were going to lose Thomas/Chancellor/Sherman to injury and old age one way or another, regardless of whether they paid Wilson.

Cowboys situation is different because LVE, Smith, Dlaw are younger but you never know.

This commissioner can't be gone soon enough.
I wish. But this type of stuff just helps the NFL make money. Now all the talk will be how he was suspended and not Hill. The NFL in the news = more$$$$$$$. The more money Goodell makes the more the owners will want to keep him

The strength of their D is in their LBs and HC, but that can't be good enough. The defense is still going to be bottom half without a Dline or secondary.

Not a bad thought. They're desperate now. So, why not take advantage of it? And we should do it before the Pats jump in.
Only issue is I'm not trading contributors without some sort of player that get playing time here as part of the compensation.

And after looking over the roster, I'm not seeing much that fits the description outside of Delano Hill and our need at SS is much greater than that at FS.

They had a similar type player in Red Bryant several years ago when they won the championship. Not a flashy player, not great stats, but a bull on the outside/inside who gobbled up the run game.

Exactly, and trading one of our players in a position where we are deep for a first or second round pick to a team that's desperate is precisely what the Patriots do. This is our time to strike on that.

we could get Tedric Thompson or something plus a 2020 4th for Crawford
