News briefs: Seattle CB Trufant off PUP, to play vs. Dallas

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica] Seattle activated the 2007 Pro Bowl cornerback from the physically-unable-to-perform list Friday. Last week was the first time Trufant had practiced since July, when a disk issue in his back began. [/FONT]

Coach Jim Mora expects Trufant to play mainly in nickel defensive alignments on passing downs against the Cowboys. Josh Wilson and Ken Lucas will again be the starting cornerbacks. [/FONT]

Trufant takes the roster place of Lofa Tatupu. The three-time Pro Bowl linebacker went on injured reserve following surgery this week to repair a torn left pectoral muscle. [/FONT]

I am not sure how big of an impact they will have other than a morale boost. Tru is only supposed to play on 3rd downs or obvious passing situations. Hill is only supposed to play on 1st and 2nd downs. I don't know why not on 3rd down but that is the plan.

Seattle isn't a bad team, they'll be plenty ready for this game, regardless of the injuries. Dallas better come out with the same mindset as the Falcons game.

Unfortunately, MonsterHeel's argument is self-fulfilling; any defense against which the Cowboys perform well can't possibly be a "real NFL defense" by virtue of the Cowboys performing well against them.

It's identical to the tired and hackneyed "big game" argument. The perception is Romo plays poorly in big games; therefore, any game in which Romo plays well can't possibly be a big game.

Those guys are real defenders but the Giants and Broncos don't have any? Are you serious? You'd start a team with Trufant or Hill over Umenyiori?

Yeah. They are on every board. But I was tongue and cheek about it. Marcus didn't see the pro bowl last year and he won't see it this year. Unless he buys tickets.

I don't expect him to have too large of an impact really. In addition to it being his first game this year he is going to have very limited playing time.
