Much is made of ET3 on these boards, as he has the talent to make us contenders. But with teams having to trim the fat and skim down their rosters, is Thomas the safety we should be targeting?

Teams typically carry 4/5 safeties on their 53.

Taking a look at their depth chart, Hawks currently have 9 according to ourlads.com.

Wont speak on Thomas as he's discussed ad naseum on here, but there's no chance he will be cut.
Chancellor has an injury issues, but even so I dont see any way they cut him either.
Hawks extended Bradley Mcdougald before he was able to hit free agency, so he will be staying.
They just drafted Tre Flowers out of OSU, so he will likely be staying as well.

The two I'm interested in Delano Hill and Thompson, who were 3rd and 4th rounders last year, respectively. Both were among targets for the Boys last year. Would you try to flip a low pick for one of them? It's likely one of the two dont make the 53.

Mo Alexander, Akeem King, and Dontae Johnson are also on the depth chart, but I have no knowledge of them.

Or, if they should be cut, then we can get them for very little.

I've shifted my attention to the guys we do have. Two names we haven't seen play for us yet are Huff and Thompson.

Thompson is crazy athletic. 6'2 207. 1.50 split and 3.57 3 cone. 4.49 forty.
He went undrafted a couple years ago and has bounced around to a few teams. He started out at QB in college and then switched to safety. Maybe he's ready to turn the corner.

Huf is 5'11 200lbs. He is like Woods but faster. 4.49. Was the second or third leading tackler in college for Wyoming I think.

So we have a couple guys that can at least compete. And have really good measurables.

Huff was suspend for the smoke I think, early after he was drafted. He was a fourth round pick for Tennessee. He's moved around a little too.

The bar is pretty low right now regarding our starting safeties. Really want to see what these guys can bring.

Or they could just be spares and we still go shopping for a true starting FS. Either way, Go Cowboys!!!

In the spirit of the thread, the Thompson we do have was actually signed from Seattles PS.

Didn't we already sign Jason Thompson????
I've been asking that for a while now, he still doesn't show up on the roster. I thought we signed him right after we got Richard on the staff, which made me feel a lot better about the player.

He is listed as an OLB by Spotrac

You never know. We just gave up on our 4th rounder from last year.

And they only cut Sherman from the secondary, correct? So thats just one CB, wouldnt think thatd effect their safety situation.

Do you think both of them make it over Thomas, Kam, McDougald, or their draft pick from this year?

I would like to question the posters who have been saying ET is pissed at things like not getting traded, or the offers the team is getting, or some such stuff.
I haven't seen, or heard that he's upset about really anything. He wants a new contract, that's all I've heard.

I haven't heard that he's pissed, or wants out (currently), or that he will hold out (he said he wouldn't).

Am I missing something, or are people just squawking what they want to believe?

ET clearly said he won't hold out. Does that sound pissed to anyone? Not to me. If I'm pissed I'm sitting in the sandbox with my shovel and pale. We want him to be pissed. From what I gather, we MAY (notice the capitals and Bold) have been close on a deal with the Hawks in a trade and we MAY have started the chat with ET but apparently he wasn't really in to negotiation. We weren't willing trade the farm with the Hawks for ET and we weren't willing to give him what he wants. Enough said.If he plays in Seattle as an unhappy camper, I could care less. Let them have him. I see players wanting all the money they can get for future security. Not in my back yard. We dumped one of those players a few weeks ago. Won't negotiate a contract for what you're worth at 29 years old. Hosta la vista baby!!

DAL trading their 4th (Switzer) was uncalled for, but i guess that's just me. Ward wasn't a prize imo.

SEA can carry 5 Ss, but ain't Kam done an that's why McDougal was re-signed. Plus, they may get rid of ET so they would need those guys.
