While these signings are rarely about "learning secrets" as film review will provide a lot more information, it is funny how many times each season that a team the Cowboys are playing in the next 1-2 weeks signs a former Cowboys player.

I would have to believe that sports agents know some teams may just be fishing which will ultimately mean their client gets signed and released a week or two later.

Since that will make the player (their client) look bad I would have to believe the teams doing this are either seriously giving the player a chance or at least convincing their agents they will.

The whole "sharing secrets" thing is not real. Teams employ several people that go over other teams' game films and even the TV copies of games to figure out calls, patterns, and other signs based on downs and distance. And teams are aware of this and adjust.

That's what the quality control coaches you see listed on the staff do. They act as scouts for your own team and let the other coaches know if things are getting too predictable, etc..
