Obviously Lee isn't an actual coach, but given the type of person he is, you can bet he's going to constantly be coaching up his teammates. Especially the rookies. I like to think of him as an unofficial LB coach this year.

Even though Lee is lost for the year on the field, it doesn't mean that Lee's voice won't be heard at the ranch. It's a voice that is much needed on this defense. We're lucky to have Lee, even when injured, since he is probably THE best role model this young guys could have. He's the type of unselfish guy who will go out of his way to make sure his teammates are on the same page. And we can only hope, for the sake of this defense in 2015, that Lee will be doing just that.

Bruce Carter said during training camp last year that Lee is always quizzing him about the defense. Even when they are out or at each other's houses.

Well, I can see how that could possibly get annoying if you're trying to take time off. But I still love it.

Another plus to having him on the sideline. Of course, the question is, do these rookies and young Lb's have the work ethic, like Lee's, to apply his wisdom. One of the thing's that set's Lee apart is all of the film study he does. I think we will find out real quick if these guy's are listening, come regular season.

I don't know.

Wasn't there a time Dat Nuyyen, also a retired LBer they tried at coaching, too?

We've already got Leon Lett as a coach.

I want these guys like Lee to actually play and lead the defense to some division titles..

..and a few playoff wins would be nice..

before we ask them to be a coach.

That's sort how its supposed to work.

I know what you're saying. But somehow this feels different to me than those former player coaches (Wade Wilson is another one BTW). Maybe since he's one of their peers, and not an "authority figure" so to speak, there's a chance they will respond differently. I don't know, I've never played or been in this situation, so I'm just speculating.

D'oh, You had me! I thought we moved him to linebacker coach permanently. My bad.

Yeah, and then 10 seconds later Carter tweets about shoes or something

Either you can coach or not. I have no clue what Lee's long term goals but I do know that plenty of successful coaches never accomplished anything close to what Lee has in his short career.
