Bonuses: $2 Million

Lee missing the final Cowboys game last season with a hamstring injury prevented his 2016 base salary from increasing to $5 million because his defensive play time was less than 80 percent. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gave Lee a way to still get the $2 million by sticking a $125,000 bonus for each game he is the 46-man active roster this season into his contract when it was restructured in August to create cap room.

Lee has made $1.75 million so far by playing in every game. Having his 2017 base salary escalate from $7 million to $9 million isn't an issue because Lee has been on the field for all but one of Dallas' defensive plays this season. He should clinch the escalator this week against the Giants.

If anyone on the Cowboys or any other team is deserving of getting that $2 mil bonus money, it'd be Sean Lee.

He has gone above and beyond the call of duty in each and every game (and film session) that he's had for us.

Good for you, Sean. One of the very best LBers in the game. Our very best defensive player.

He and Jaylon seems too good to be true. Please, football Gods, make it happen! That would instantly give us a top 3 LBer core in the league (assuming a full recovery for our Jaylon).

Agreed. Nice wording at the beginning.
If anyone on the Cowboys or any other team is deserving of that $2 million. Haha
Good for Lee and the rest of these young millionaires. But man $2 million exceeds the lifetime earnings of the average family and for some its just a bonus.

It is better than letting it line Jerry's pocket IMO. Sean Lee is awesome.

Yea for Jerry $2 million is just a down payment on another hog shooting helicopter. Lee is awesome. One of the guys you just can't find a reason not to like.

Pro sports are unique in the way players salaries are spoken about publicly so often. Sometimes I wish we didn't know. Like when I rent Jason Borne I would rather not have all the actors salaries and bonuses talked about by critics and movie fans.

I guess I'm just getting old or something. When I was a child I could watch with the innocence of not knowing the business side of it.

Just my own dumb rant. I just thought and the perspective of the article when my niece told me how she works at Walmart and part of her job is assisting the new hires with how to sign up for public assistance.

Anyway.... Sean Lee is awesome and seems like a great dude.

It wouldn't really matter except for the salary cap
