Lee's a class act and Church not being on the team is not because the Cowboys "couldn't afford him"

Barry Church might hear from a former teammate (or more) to debate who has more talent.

Church, who left the Cowboys after seven seasons to sign with the Jaguars, said Friday that his new team has “a lot more talent” than Dallas does. Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee was asked about Church’s comments Saturday.

“They have more talent? Well, that’s because he’s in Jacksonville right now,” Lee said, via Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. “Of course he’s going to say that. I might have to call him.”

The Cowboys, who couldn’t afford to keep Church, also lost Church’s backup, J.J. Wilcox. Jeff Heath is expected to start opposite Byron Jones this season.

Church moved to a minor-league team; his own talent must look superior by comparison...I think he must be confused

Despite being Church's friend, Sean Lee definitely had the right idea about Church being mistaken.

It's really no big surprise that most ex-players make such comments concerning their former teams.

All anyone really needs to do is simply examine the wins and losses of both teams to find the truth.

He knows he went from a SB contender to a SB pretender for the next few years and he is Rico's popcorn salty.

He has to know that as long as Brady plays, the Pats are the top dog. Pitt, KC, Denver, and Oakland are all playofg teams year in and year out. Then, you have Baltimore, Cincy, Houston, and Tennessee right there as well. Jax will be looking up and grasping for leftovers for probably the rest of Barry's mediocre career.

What was Church supposed to say? "My old team was better"?

I really hate the way football is covered in America but I guess this is what the masses want.

Wait, you and other Garrett apologists always used current cowboy player quotes to tell us that the players respect Garrett and have pooh poohed other posters when they have made the argument that "of course current players will say that about their current HC"

Completely ridiculous that you are now making this argument when a player says something you don't like

I think he'd have done better to simply say "I think they're both very talented teams and I'm just happy to be here." I'm sure it's tough to come up with the ideal response when a new player is put on the spot like that. Mostly, new players tend to say whatever their new team's fans want to hear when they're presented with such questions. I imagine the survival instinct has something to do with it. ;)

And then Jaguars fans would be like "why did he say that about Dallas, Cowboys suck, just go back instead, you're just here to steal money..."

Come on, man.

If they really know anything about football, I think they'd know he's being a bit phony but of course, that depends upon the individual. There certainly would be plenty of those to take the attitude you suggest, though. I'm sure that's why most players decide to take the "safe route."

Talent doesnt have to be across the board

Brady could have receivers out of high school and they would still probably make the AFC championship game

It's how the talent is utilized

For the first season in a LONG time, I believe this Cowboys team can duck and dodge any bulletin board material, because they're just that talented, youthful and focused. I'm excited to see the crazy ish Giants and other teams say, then see Dak and Zeke run all over them and our defense finally create turnovers.

Church is right, their defense is stacked, at nearly every position but SS.
What Church should have said is that he is probably the least talented on that D.

This. For Church, or any other player moving to any new team, to say otherwise would be a surprise.

They do have talent on that team, but need a QB to have a chance to win.

The coaching has been suspect as well. Players are often better before/after being there.
