Exactly.

A real GM would cut Lee but not Jerry.

doubt most gm's would cut their best defender. even injury prone lee. But what they need to do is find a way to lessen his cap hit by extending him and force him into a backup role.

Sean Lee is 32 years of age and only going to get worse injury wise and will probably be less productive.

It would not make any sense to lessen his cap by extending Lee and putting him into a backup role.

Next season the organization suppose to have a sufficient amount of cap space. Therefore, cutting Sean Lee would be the smart thing to do.

A real GM would do that approach and not look back.

Oh well, I don't mind LVE and Smith getting more reps.

Like Eli, it's time for Lee to hang it up. No shame in that.

If Lee goes, I'd love to see him go be a LB coach at Penn State for a few years, get a NFL LB coaching gig, and then be a defensive coordinator within 6 or 7 years.

Or Jerry will just name him a coach right away like Kellen Moore.

Regardless, he is going to be a very good coach if he decides to go that path.

Regardless of how good he is, he's just not dependable. How many big games has he missed over the years? You need players that you can count on, you constantly need to have a backup plan for when, not if he misses time. Growing up I had a friend who's Dad had a Lotus Esprit, very cool car. I asked how often his Dad drove it and he said not often because it was always in the shop. He got rid of it, it wasn't worth the troubles. It didn't matter how fast the car was if it's always broke down.

as this is the 1st year since having lee where we had 3 starting quality guys and viable backup options they can actually look at that next year. We cut lee in 2019 we save 3 million. To me having Lee even half the season is worth that 3 million. You could designate him a june 1st cut but i'd rather have him in a rotation if you can get him at a better price/ restructure/ extend if possible.

That building is going to erupt if/when LVE gets his first NFL sack.

When have you ever know that building to "erupt?" by the time they put down their wine and Kentucky Derby binoculars the next play will have started.

Well at least we don’t have to deal with Fournette. If Zeke were missing this game most people would already be chalking it up as a loss, no Fournette isn’t much different with Jacksonville since they don’t have a reliable QB.

These are the types of games where backup rb’s come out and put personal best numbers on us... tired of it

Time to move on, the juice ain't worth the squeeze anymore. We have starters in place and we can bring along young LBs to fill backup roles, not a timebomb set to go on IR if we really need him.
