I heard Heath Evans speculate on 103.3 tonight that once Paytons contract is up he could see Payton heading back to Dallas.

He also said with the way the NFL is that it wouldn't surprise him if Jerry attempts to buy out his contract at some point.

ah..no..He and Brees will forever be legends and heroes in New Orleans, plus he has an owner who does not meddle. He is staying put.

Unless the Saints suddenly start stinking I don't think he'd ever leave.

I heard that, too. Know why Ian brought that up? Because the other day, Werder was going on about how Jerry loved Sean Payton more than anyone, and his contract was up after next year. Plus, Garrett only had one more year left on his deal. So Werder was wondering if Jerry somehow might try to work an out into Garrett's contract so that if things went bad, he could hire Payton after next year.

Totally kooky, right? Classic Werder trollling. I'm surprised Evans didn't shoot it down immediately.

dont worry, if he were to get away or jerry did buy him out...he would suddenly become a poor coach and a puppett to the general public.

by the way if that was to ever happen that would be fantastic.

I heard the interview halfway in on my way to the gas station.

I think its if the game is tied in overtime and the other team scores....the game keeps going until payton manning catches up and wins...

I may have read it wrong though...just seemed something like that..;)

Both teams are guaranteed a possession now I believe.

Pretty sure this wont be happening.

As an aside, I thought the most interesting thing from the whole interview was Evans saying that Payton was like Belichick in that both would take input from players, where Holmgren and Nick Saban were total "my way or the highway" guys. I'd have picked Belichick for more of the latter type.

But...but...he's a, what's the overused word on here again...oh yeah, "retread".

Why would anybody want him? LOL.

And you have to score a td to win. No more game winning FG's in OT in the playoffs. I don't like it. I prefer sudden death. First team to score wins period.

It's better than the college OT crap but not by much.

I liked it that way too. It was put in because of a couple of crybabies.

Another lousy move pimped by Goodell

Everyone has it wrong. You can't win with a FG on the first possession of overtime. If you kick a FG on the first possession, the other team must score a TD to win or a FG to tie on their next possession or the game is over.

I don't. This is all stupid. New Orleans isn't going to just let him walk out the door.
