Sean Payton hosts beach football game with Cowboys stars

Sean Payton, at his holiday home in WaterColor, Fla., organized a pickup game of beach football with Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo and tight end Jason Witten and Detroit Lions’ linebacker Bobby Carpenter according to Brian Allee-Walsh of SportsNOLA.com.

Throw in Fox NFL analyst Troy Aikman, the Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, and suddenly a spirited 7-on-7 game of touch football on a crowded beach became an instant happening.

“It got so competitive to where the whole beach was watching,’’ Payton said. “A highlight for me was my son Connor caught a touchdown pass from Romo. No, he didn’t spike it; he knows better.’’

Payton served as an assistant with the Cowboys from 2003 to 2005.

In case you were wondering, the lockout's "no-contact" policy between coaches and players allows for "normal social interaction so the game was not in violation of any rules.

Beach Football is not very safe on the knees. In fact, I think I remember some running back (Robert Edwards maybe or Kevin Faulk) from the Pats who ripped every ligamnet in his knee playing 7 on 7 on a beach.

So I was watching Sportscenter last night to look at the highlights of the Rangers game and what do I see?

A "How Tony Romo is Spending His Offseason" bit and the only thing they mentioned was this beach 7on7.

Keep it classy, ESPN. I wish they'd all get hit in the face via Stuart Scott passing machine.
