This really isn't to disrespect Sean Taylor in anyway and hopefully this post isn't viewed as inappropriate. I just wanted ask about his contract.

I am not sure about what type of contract Sean Taylor had. What happens to the money he would have earned, does it go to his family or is the contract considered void?

I would think the same thing that happened to Darrent Williams' contract.

And what happened with William's contract?

I view it similar to a player retiring or being cut. I don't know if there are existing rules ore not. Perhaps the NFL should look into adding stipulations about getting a salary cap deduction if players cannot play due to unforeseen off the field events.

Unfortunately, the estate receives nothing.

Washington has no reponsibility to pay the Taylor estate any future monies. It would be rather heartless of any owner not to make sure that heirs are taken care of and would cause a PR nightmare but they are under no obligations.

Taylor's prorated SB will be excellerated onto the '08 cap.

Say what you want about Snyder but he'll do the right thing here and give the contract $ to Taylor's child.

Snyder will take care of the family. You can count on that.

I beleive the contract is escalated...just like if the player was cut.

(I think this should change though.)

I'm willing to bet Snyder pays out the rest of his salary or sets up a trust for the child. He was probably getting close to UFA as this was his 4th season.

It was a 7-year contract with the last year voidable. All the SB gets accelerated I believe, like already mentioned. I can imagine Snyder petitioning the NFL to get it removed but I don't know what flexibility is available to him.

They should do like the WWE did with Eddie Guerrero and make "In remembrance" Jerseys for sale with all proceeds going to his little girl.

If they did, I as a Cowboys fan, would buy one just to help his family.

I hope so. That's the right thing to do.

It's inconceivable that he didn't have a big life insurance policy. That alone should help the survivors.

I'd rather just donate the money :D

Perhaps although given his criminal past and the weird circumstances in this situation, I would assume the insurance company would investigate whether he was responsible for his own demise through his off field activities.
