RUEAGE

Buffalo appears to have a steal in rookie right tackle Seantrel Henderson, who is coming off an impressive game against the Dolphins. He helped hold Cameron Wake, one of the league's best pass rushers, without a sack. He also did some really good things in the run game. Henderson,

a seventh-round pick from Miami,

was once the top-ranked high-school lineman. He has talent. But he was lazy at Miami and had some off-field concerns. He won the job as the starting right tackle for the Bills and really has opened some eyes. He is big, strong and tough. He does lack some foot speed to get to the second level, but he can move people off the ball and he was good in pass protection against Miami. It was his block on Wake that opened the hole for C.J. Spiller's 47-yard run in the third quarter. Teaming with Cordy Glenn, Henderson will give the Bills a nice young tackle duo if he can continue to grow.

who we get in the 7

Ahmad Dixon - now with VIKES
Ken Bishop - still with the team
Terrance Mitchell - Da Bears

He was taken I the 7th because of his attitude and work ethic. We took him of the board and was put in the do not draft box.

It's a long season and several years left. His attitude and lack or work ethic will show up.

I agree with super here. I liked him coming out, but the Cowboys took him off their board.

Let's see where he is in 3 years.

He is playing great though.

7th round is where you take risks on players like Seantrel Hendeson, Vontaze Burfict, etc.

Instead, we gamble in the 4th round with scrubs like Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Matt Johnson, Danny Coale, B.W. Webb, and Anthony Hitchens.

Disagree about Danny Coale and Matt Johnson(injuries) both had NFL talent, the others were the luck of the fourth rd. Not many bullseyes in that round consistently.
Henderson and Burfict both had some dark clouds surrounding their pedigree, at first glance we did not need the distraction.

Coale, who I was mistaken about and was actually a 5th round pick, was cut the very first season. He was made available to the whole league and no one wanted him. He ended up on the practice squad. The next year, he was cut again before Week 1 and went unclaimed. Spent a week on the Colts practice squad and was cut. The 4th and 5th rounds are important rounds IMO. It's where you draft immediate Special Teeams guy and guys who should be contributing for you in 2 or 3 years. If you constantly miss in those rounds you have a very thin roster i.e. exactly our situation now.

Regarding Henderson and Burfict, again worthy of the risk in the 7th round. 7th rounders usually don't make your team so if they don't come in, work hard, and live up to their talent, you cut them and no one questions the risk you took. We drafted Caleb McSurdy the year Burfict went undrafted. I'd say we gambled on a limited athlete who doesn't have the talent to play in the NFL. Not a big deal except when you claim drafting Burfict in that exact spot was too risky.

Your opinion on Danny Coale and I respect you, Danny had the talent before blowing out his knee he was a larger version of Cole Beasley I am sure the injury must of been devastating as this kid was not going to be outworked. Not everyone has a Adrian Peterson rehab and this is one that went wrong.

Hard to argue with you in hindsight about those two players, Burfict and Henderson turned around on about 31 other teams. Using best data available at the time they looked like some issues that were best left to another team. No one has a clear crystal ball all have some degree of opaqueness.
I am in agreement Chris we need to hit on more of the late round picks especially in the safety position.

Jamarcus Webb looked great as a rookie too after slipping all the way to the 7th round because of attitude problems. Since then he has been on of the worst OTs in the NFL

I'd take that risk in the 7th.
