How does Dak’s injury change your outlook on the season? Do you think they should tank and try to get as high a pick as possible or try to make the playoffs? I honestly think this teams wins 4-6 games with Dalton starting. I don’t see too many wins on the schedule. At this point might be better to tank, get a top 10 pick and draft defense defense defense. Retool defense and come back next year with everyone on offense healthy. Thoughts?

At this point I just want Dak to heal and hopefully be ready for 2021s season. If we make playoffs and lose but we rallied, fine. If we lose a lot of games and get high draft picks to fix this defense, also fine.

I'm cautiously optimistic on offense but we've got to see Dalton actually start a game. Sometimes QB's look good in relief and stink it up the next week. See Weeden.

Problem is and continues to be that this team needs to score more than 30 points a game to win due to the defense. If the D doesn't get fixed nothing's going to matter. Can't win needing to do that every Sunday.

Yea that’s kinda where I’m at. Really fine with anything. I do think a top 10 pick could be a game changer for this team next year and the future

I think the team was going to finish around 9-7 no matter what. The defense will improve with reps and players returning from injury. We have the weapons on offense to score, to me the big question is whether they can gel at the end of the season to get hot for the playoffs.

And I fully expect Dak to return before the playoffs, he has played through pain before and even if he plays injured he will just be a slightly less mobile version of his previous form.

Winning the East would be an accomplishment with Dalton. Probably wouldn’t go much farther than that though

Dalton will probably have a few hot starts then crash back down to earth, and the defense isn't going to stop getting gutted. I mean, what reinforcements are we getting? LVE, who hasn't looked the same since Christmas '18? Chido? Those guys aren't going to turn this unit around.

Nolan gets fired midseason and we finish 5-11.

Give it everything they have, keep on fighting strong to win every game they can.
The idea of tanking is absurd, and is a loser mentality.

As a fan one should root for a win every game. Even if eliminated from the playoffs. However I can understand fans not being upset losing to get a better draft pick, after being eliminated. But not before.

Like last year I wanted them to beat the Eagles, win the division. However I was not upset either. As I knew that was the end of Garrett.

we'll win the East we have good starting QB in a terrible division
If the Oline continues to gel. Its not going any where after that

Before Dak’s injury, the season hinged on the defense’s ability to improve.

Now, the season hinges on the defense’s ability to improve.

Even with all the OL injuries and Dak out, this offense can win. The defense is going to have to get way better for the team to make some noise.

An injury should never decide how you see a season.
In 1972 preseason Roger Staubach separated his throwing shoulder.

“I tried to run over Marlin McKeever,” Staubach said, “and that was a big mistake.”

The Cowboys went 7-2 under Craig Morton before Staubach returned. He said, “I didn’t jump back in and get my job because Craig was really doing well in that ‘72 season."

Or look back a Foles and the Eagles.

My opinion on this has changed since Dak went down. I know what I have with Dak starting and I’m comfortable with it. This defense is so bad I don’t see a realistic way of winning any significant games. I was for the first time ever in favor of tanking and fixing the defense with high draft pics.

Now Dak’s ankle has changed everything for me. I think it’s important to see what Dalton can do to prepare for the possibility Dak has problems linger from this injury. I think he will come back with very little effect once he is fully healed. But there is a possibility I’m wrong and if we need to plan for life after Dak, then Dalton could be a solid transitional QB until we find the new franchise QB.

Honestly, even if Dalton plays to win and has success, the defense is so bad we will probably get at least a top 10 pick regardless. We now have to look at what we have for the future.

At least a winning season.

Division Champs and maybe 1 win in the playoffs.
