I thought the first tie breaker between teams with identifical won/lost records was head-to-head followed by division & then conference records. Not sure. I just know that right now Seattle has 2nd seed, followed by NO at 3rd and Cowboys at 4th. Understand it breaks down that way currently because both teams have better division records then we do (we're the only top team with a losing division record//we're 2-3).
If you want to be technical, the Saints are the #2 seed right now.
The Seahawks are #3, Dallas is #4.
NFC Tiebreakers
New Orleans is the No. 2 seed based on conference record with Seattle and Dallas (7-1 to Seahawks' 6-3 and Cowboys' 5-3).
Seattle is the No. 3 seed based on conference record with Dallas (6-3 to Cowboys' 5-3).
N.Y. Giants are the No. 6 seed based on head-to-head record with Atlanta (1-0).
I will post the tie breakers again so hopefully after three threads today, it will sink in:
TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM OR AMONG DIVISION WINNERS
If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.
1. If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
2. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.
Two Clubs
1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
4. Strength of victory.
5. Strength of schedule.
6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best net points in conference games.
9. Best net points in all games.
10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
11. Coin toss.
