I looked at it in both ways, but I'm not exactly a gambler. Either Vegas is tricking people into taking Seattle because they just simply don't think we are as good as our record, or they think we are that good and want people to take Dallas in the toughest NFL stadium; since they never lose there. For all you out there that gamble, please explain to me what Vegas is thinking with this line?!

Pretty much, which Fanbase are they tricking here?

Seattle home minus 8 points. Are you sure you read that right?

The money was flowing toward Dallas, so they lowered the line to get more money back on Seattle (with the ultimate goal to get equal money on both sides). People love to bet on their own team and since Dallas has such a large fan base, lines get skewed giving a savvy bettor an edge when finding the right spots to bet against Dallas.

As yimyammer said, Vegas odds aren't really about who they think will win. It's about where the money is going. This shows that a lot of people were betting on Dallas so they moved the line towards Seattle. Expect the line to move back again if more money goes towards Seattle.

Do English betting shops use the same system of equalising each side of the bet?
