If Dallas does what many predict -- RB and CB in the first round -- then I guess WR would be the biggest need when they choose again in Round 2.

Who are the second-round or third-round WRs that you like?

For reference, here is Goose's WR rankings (in his top 100):

14. Devin Thomas
23. James Hardy
27. DeSean Jackson
34. Malcom Kelly
39. Limas Sweed
43. Donnie Avery
48. Jordy Nelson
58. Eddie Royal
64. Andre Caldwell
70. Earl Bennett
77. Early Doucet
82. Jerome Simpson
92. Keenan Burton

From what I saw at the combine, Jordy Nelson. But I liked what I saw during LSU games from Early Doucet.

I haven't heard of people talking about Lavelle Hawkins from California. He was the best receiver at the senior bowl and might be had in the 3rd round. He's bigger than Desean Jackson and while not as explosive he's pretty fast in his own right.

Agree, and we supposedly like him.

Anyway, the second-tier guys I like are Nelson, Avery, Burton.

Also Dexter Jackson for a speed guy, and Marcus Monk for a bigger all-around guy.

For a truly late round shot, Todd Blythe... A poor man's Drew Bennett.

I really think that teams will regret overlooking Manningham.

I wouldn't be disappointed with any of those guys in the second, although I don't think all of them will drop that far.

Is that where he's projected to go? I haven't really heard much about him lately, but I liked what I saw from him at Arkansas.

Yeah. What's amazing is that Bennett was so productive on such crappy teams. He pretty much was the offense on those teams.

I think he could be a real consistent #2.

I wouldn't be suprised to see Miami take him w/ one of their 2nd round picks, I think I read that they really like him

Eh, i've seen him there but i bet he goes in the 4th somewhere.

I think he is going to be a big time steal.

I think James Hardy is the best reciever in the draft, I'd take him with a first.

FWIW, LaVelle Hawkins transferred from LSU to Cal a few years ago b/c he was mired on the depth chart behind the likes of Bowe, Davis, Doucet, et al. I'm not quite sure about a guy who is highly rated out of high school but doesn't have it in him to compete for a gig on the team. I wouldn't consider him before the third round.

It will be very interesting to see how we address the WR position tomorrow. When the draft is over and we hear the explaination of what we did is what I am looking forward to the most. How we view our current situation and the coaching staff does might be more different than any of us think.

I think this a solid wr draft nobody really stands out though.. you could make a case for 3 or 4 guys as your favorite. Not one real player that stands out of the bunch. I would even wait to maybe the 3rd round if we had to and picked someone like Andre Caldwell from Florida he ran a sub 4.4 I believe and he also was very good playmaker at Florida, if they didnt have Percy Harvin there he might have had 1,200 yards receiving this past seaon.
