Newman, Glenn and Henry have all played great this year, the pro bowl is a popularity contest, we all know TNEW shouldda made it. We know how good he is, Pro bowl is about popularity and only that.

Henry and Glenn were great FA pickups, Jacques Reeves has played decent in his past few games, i think he has potential.
We must fix that FS position, i like Keith Davis because of his hits, etc, but he's gt to get that nack to go and get the ball.........no INT's, comeon Keith.
Our secondary has 4 playmakers.......Roy, Henry, Newman and Glenn. Davis must fix his coverage, b/c we all know the kid can hit, just gotta get a nack for that ball!!!!!!!

I'd like to know how other SS do in coverage before I see Roy with a C. SS are not the best cover guys -- in fact, you'd expect them to be the worst cover guys in the secondary. Also, you can't really look at safety YPC or TDs because they usually have deep coverage responsibilities.

Amazing.

Newman is about as close to a "lock down CB" as there is. Period.

Pro Bowl is such a joke.

Pro Bowlers should be decided on stats alone.

Where'd these stats come from. I know AdamJT has been saying that Newman didn't give up a TD this year (and after reading his analyses I tend to agree). Be nice to have a source on this so we could compare our guys to others in the league.

Agreed, but unfortunately the stat that counts most with the voters for CB's is INT's.

Yeah, their's a reason they are safeties. They are not fast, leaving them vulnerable in coverage. I think you have to have good instincts in coverage and alot of studying film.

Be interesting to compare someone like Deltha O'Neal and T-New here. O'Neal's got 10 picks but teams throw at him a ton because he is beatable.

Really the only way T-New is going to get noticed is if he takes a Deion type approach - you need to make a huge celebration out of every good play. That gets you noticed. Also, taking every chance to tell reporters how good you are works as well.

They're from STATS Inc. (as reported by JJT today). And it appears that they "overlap" those passing-against stats, since their TDs against our secondary add up to 17. We've allowed only 18 TD passes total, and Shanle, Ware, Fujita and Barrow have all been beaten for touchdowns (as has James, although Davis was partly responsible on that one).

I'm sure they're counting Kennison's touchdown against Newman, since he was the closest defender. But I'm certain that Newman played his zone correctly and Davis blew the coverage. I just wonder how much time STATS spends analyzing each play (particularly those involving zone coverage) to determine who was responsible, as opposed to just counting it against whoever is closest or whoever appears to be responsible at first glance.

Edit: I don't know if anybody has access to them, but would someone mind posting the stats for the CB's who made the Pro Bowl this year, both AFC and NFC?
