SEE A DIFFERENT GAME: Drew Bledsoe doesn't like the shotgun because he doesn't like taking his eyes off the pass rush to catch the ball. But Tony Romo likes the shotgun, and the team is using it more now. Romo likes the extra time the shotgun affords him when teams are pressuring him. Plus, the shotgun spreads the defense and makes it easy for him to spot mismatches and quickly deliver the ball.

Yeah..Drew spent an awful lot of time worrying about the pass rush.

Max protects...no shotgun...locking on to one WR...etc..

What a waste of time.

That's his problem....

He doesn't like taking his eyes off the pass rush.

take his eyes off the pass rush? good lord, it's as if he never sees 'em anyway and even when he does all he would do is get into a very "pro" looking fetal position and wait to get hit.

Wow. A 1/2 second (if that) to take your eyes off the pass rush is not going to compensate for the the two to three seconds that you hold the ball for too long.

Good thinking Drew. Being up on the line allowed you to call max protect all the time and take receiving options out of routes to keep you vertical. The only problem with that is nothing will actually keep you vertical it was all an illusion.

it gets in the way of his "pat the ball" time that like his own linus security blanket.

I read another article that said that Romo played a lot in the shotgun while at E. Illinois. Sounded like they may have been a spread offense which would make Romo very comfortable with that style.
