cannot much find much about Gregory performance in minicamp this summer. this is about it other than the suspension rehab stuff.

And while the drug-related concerns are a problem, Gregory has managed to get his body into NFL shape. He came into Dallas weighing just over 230 pounds. He's now about 255 pounds and as he adjusts his athleticism with his playing style, Gregory should be a consistent contributor at the defensive end position in the Cowboys' 4-3 defensive base set.

He has every skill -- speed, strength, power and the ability to bend -- needed to be a dominant pass-rusher, but he doesn’t play with the confidence of a man with that skill set.

Gregory didn’t have a sack as a rookie, largely because he was hobbled by a high ankle sprain for much of the season.

Injuries are what held back Gregory last year – he missed four games with a high ankle sprain and ultimately played only 23 percent of the defensive snaps.

I may be in the minority, but I actually think he's going to make his presence known if not as early as these two regular season games definitely in the playoffs.

He'll tease us then lose his appeal and be suspended for the year. :(

Consistent? Really? I'm not sure I'd attribute the word "consistent" to Gregory thus far in his NFL career, even when considering that this was from the summer.

With that said, I really do hope that he works out for us when all is said and done, and that he eventually proves to be consistently good.

If this kid can step onto the field in week 15 and actually have an impact now, and throughout the playoffs, I will be stoked.

What a bonus this could turn out to be.

If he can play, like really play....I can't wait to hear the complaints from butt hurts fans of opposing teams. After all, our pass rush is supposed to be our undoing according to the know it alls.

it would sure be nice. we need one guy to step up. smith is out for the year, and tapper may not come back if he had any game at all. lawrence has a bad back. would sure be interesting if gregory gets to play due to the timing of the appeal process.

As long as he can play, and can get to the QB for sacks and disrupts the QB -I'm Happy.

During the summer his rookie year no young player we had was more impressive in preseason than Gregory who had 3 sacks. He was outstanding but didn't show up against the Giants prior to being injured. Did virtually nothing when he returned from injury.

i dont really care for this guy. He's bout to get a yr long ban anyways. Only reason hes able to play right now is because he's appealing.

Preseason sacks are interesting but not particularly meaningful in predicting regular season success:

Top 3 leading sackers from the 2016 preseason:

#1 Marcus Rush -> 6 sacks in the preseason, 0 in the regular season so far
#2 Justin Trattou -> 4.5 sacks in the preseason, 0 in the regular season so far
#3 Jacquies Smith -> 4.0 sacks in the preseason, 0 in the regular season so far

Top 3 leading sackers from the 2015 preseason

#1 Jackson Jeffcoat -> 4.0 sacks in the preseason, 0 in the regular season so far
#2 Shaquil Barrett -> 4.0 sacks in the preseason, 1.5 in the regular season so far
#3 Chris Carter -> 3.5 sacks in the preseason, 0 in the regular season so far

You would have to see how many opportunities those players got and are getting in the regular season. Are any of those players starting? Gregory would have gotten a lot of opportunities had he stayed healthy and not been suspended due to his potential and draft position. He was penciled in as the starter heading into this season.

The main reason preseason sacks don't equate to regular season sacks is because those players are going up against mostly second and third string players in preseason and they're not facing starting QB's. Much harder to get sacks against starting players during the regular season.
