Selvie > Spencer?

[Verdict]

It is going to be interesting to see if Selvie gets supplanted by Spencer if and when Spencer is healthy enough to play. I know there will be some that think that if Selvie is good that Spencer should be even better in this defense once he returns from injury. But Selvie has been more than solid in his play thus far. Maybe you just ride the hot hand, which in this case is Selvie. It is going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

Competition is the best policy. Work Spencer in as a back-up and if he is outplaying Selvie, you start him. If Selvie is playing better, keep Selvie in.

I think its pretty evident that Spencer isn't going to be 100 percent for awhile. That being said, i expect them to split snaps pretty evenly.

When Spencer is healthy, he's far and away the better player though.

When it comes to the DL and what I believe Marinelli is trying to do, it really doesn't make a difference who starts. The idea is to try and keep 8 guys fresh and wear down the opposing 5 OL. Selvie/Spencer gives the Cowboys something on the DL they haven't had since The Dynasty: Depth on the DL.

I do not think either he or Ratliff are going to make any impact this year.

We are going to be rebuilding the DL in the offseason and we will need their cap room.

I would give Hather their salaries and find 2 more players in the draft and FA.

I hope Spencer comes back and plays great ball, I'm very happy with Selvie but for me it is simple who ever is in the game make a differance. I'm just not much into anti this player or that I expect all players who get out on the field to do their job and make a differance.

I'm routing for Almost Anthony's return to full health because I'd love to see a deeper rotation on the front four. Same with Rat. I couldn't care less who 'starts.' This D-line has the potential to rival Doomsday pass rushes of the team's heydays.

At worst, you split the reps...keeps both them fresher...but, if Spencer is healthy, he is the better player...BUT, you can't NOT put Selive in at this point

Agree on all points, Selvie will be with this team this year and beyond, Spencer most likely won't. I would take my time working Spencer in until he's completely healthy and then I would split time.
