Bolster his stock?

I'm not a fan of Watson but there's nothing left for him to prove; scouts have more 1200+ throws to breakdown and evaluate. Playing in an exhibition game with receivers unfamiliar to him offers little benefit.

Teams can get a more intimate understanding of who is in predraft interviews and workout sessions.

Completely disagree. He has plenty that he can show. Can he operate out of a playbook? Can he run an offense under center? How does he retain concepts? How does he progress during a week with new play installations?

And, the playing with receivers unfamiliar to him is not something that would be held against him.

This board will be insufferable if we take him

But im all for it. The TE position killed us all year and Witten just doesnt have it anymore.

Seeing how long it took us to replace Jay Novacek with Jason Witten (see monumental fail David LaFluer), I'm okay with taking Howard in the first (preferably after a trade down). We need a dual threat tight end (blocking, catching) for this offensive scheme. Witten is still serviceable, but he's not going to burn anyone or get much yardage after the catch. I think Howard elevates this offense almost immediately.

I think Watson has intangibles you can't teach. Kid is cocky, but he backs it up and embraces the spotlight. You can tell no moment would be too big for him. I have a lot of the same questions as everybody else as far as NFL transition, but just remember a lot of us (including myself) were saying these same things about Dak this time last year. The players attitude and personality go as far as arm talent in the NFL sometimes I'm learning as I watch more and more of these drafts play out. I think Watson has a decent shot to be a starter in the league for a while...if he manages to avoid Cleveland.

If he came in this week, and showed improvement from the beginning of the week to the end, it would have helped him. Also, to be able to work under a coaching staff with a humongous need at QB, and two first round picks, he didn't make a smart move in sitting out.

Maybe he thinks playing in Cleveland is just not worth it despite the millions he could get being picked by the Browns. Shrug.

LOL. This is a chance to respond to pro coaching. It's laughable to think he's got nothing to gain here.

It won't hurt his stock. All of those things can be demonstrated to varying degrees in his private and individual team workouts (which can have multiple meetings).

It's a calculated but prudent risk. The extra time affords him more practice working on his mechanics and taking snaps under center.

I like Daeshon Hall. I hear there may be medical issues with his shoulders. Any A&M people know anything about this?

He showed a real nice first step, and even some bull rush power in the one on one drills. The Villanova guy looked good too.

Need to look up TE Michael Roberts from Toledo. 16 TDs this year. And the guy has freakish hand size - 11 5/8. That's larger than guys like Kawhi Leonard.

Gonna keep a close eye on him at SB and Combine. He seems like one of those players who has potential to shoot way up to mid or late 1st round when all is said and done.
