Sensi on Denver's first 3rd down - safety still really worries me

This was the typical problem of last year.

Safety doesn't do what his job is. He's cheating up and not looking at the guy he's suppossed to cover and corner blitzes and that side/guy is wide open for a big play.

If we are going to blitz a corner, Sensi HAS to know what to do there. I don't know why he was cheating forward, there didn't look to be another loose man, so he just left his guy wide open? Did I miss something. Simple but crucial mistake. Instead of 3 and out, the other team gets big play.

That is a dumb play. 3rd down defense was atrocious last year, and those are the plays that cost you.

The big Teebow throw up the middle, same thing was happening. We had 3 defenders on one receiver and everyone was cheating. Nobody was doing their job and then nobody was instinctive to cover the open man. Someone HAS to cover him deep if the other guy is cheating up.

I think we lack game speed, smarts, and instinct in the safety position still. Jury is still out on CB as well. Kwasi looks a long way off yet, no matter how genetically gifted or fast he might be, the mental part of the game isn't happening for him yet.

Man, I wish we'd finally upgrade this position with one fast, smart, instinctive center fielder in there.

Elam at least seems to be in the right spot, I guess.

was worrisome but give him some more time in this scheme before we judge, if we are still having major breakdowns in the third preseason game i will start to worry with ya

I think we are going to be ok in the long run, however, I still question our football intelligence. That is all.

New defensive coordinator and Sensy was resigned late.

Give them some time.

I paid particular attention to him while he was in and man, he drives me nuts. We always made fun of RW for being bad in coverage, but he really isnt much better. His only saving grace is he has decent speed and athleticism, but he is constantly out of position.

I am concerned as well. But remember they have only be practicing 2 weeks. Gerald has even less time in this scheme.

Yes! My wife or Hos could have covered that receiver! Simple instruction and Sensi covered the wrong guy! Aaaaaarrrrrrrgggghhhh! Of course, it could be attributed to the late entry he had into camp.

no ****. the guy has been back what- a week?
give a little time before

edit: nevermind.
go ahead

He didn't exactly "cover the wrong guy". He was watching the QB's eyes and cheated up on the crossing route and Orton went away from him. He knew his assignment, he just got baited by Orton. It's not that big of a deal.

Sensy sucks. Biggest FA disappointment. I was sure he was gone after whiFfing on all those tackles last year. But the plan in place seems to be to scapegoat wade and ball. I hope his poor play is due to him signing late, time will tell, but I wouldn't count on that being the reason.

lol dude has been learning this new scheme a little over a week now.. Come on now man, let up just a hair.. This is what pre-season is about & training camp. Lets settle down a little

He has actually been a pretty damn solid player for us and was an absolute bargain considering all the money being thrown around at safeties.

He's had enough time to screw up .. the " new coordinator" excuse was never valid with Sensebaugh. I believe we will go a very different direction in the 12 draft and offseason.

You said it yourself.

Considering all the money that was out there for safeties this offseason, the fact he had to come back and take a 1yr/2.5m deal should tell you how the rest of the league views him. I'm 100% certain this is the one resignee that was strictly due to us being handicapped by the salary cap.

people need to relax, Football has been back two weeks and some of you people think that Sensebaugh who got here just last week is suppose to know this defense inside out. Everybody in this defense is a work in progress except the guys that actually played in it last year, it's not like they had a whole offseason to understand it, so I expect alot of blown coverages in preseason and in the first four games of the regular season.

Preseason is a process, want to see progression from week to week and just want to get through it without any long term injuries

I wouldn't even call that a "Breakdown". Looked like he hesitated (which is expected).

I'd have to see the play again, but it looked like if he hadn't hesistated he could have had a pick 6.

Lol sadly we don't have a choice but our safeties look like theyll get ate up in space.

I've never questioned Sensy's physical ability, it's his intelligence. And by all accounts this is a very complicated scheme to run with all of the coverage disguising. He's had problems keeping his assignments in Wade's basic coverage schemes that really asked nothing of the safety other than to sit back.

This safety market was very slim and I was not happy picking sensebaugh back up but we have to hope he does better under rob scheme
