Serious Free Agents the Cowboys...

Derek Smith, ILB, 49ers.
Chris Hope, FS, Steelers.
Verron Haynes, RB/FB, Steelers.

A couple of "under the radar" names that Dallas might look to pursue.

Now that is a good list - and broadly consistent with the type of guys we are going to sign (though I increasingly believe we are going to have a big FA signing on the OL).

Haynes I like but I think he'll stay in Pitt as Bettis is likely leaving.

LeCharles Bentley(C), Kevin Barry (OT) and Ryan Longwell (K), Corey Chavous(FS), Terrell Owens(WR)

That would be a great FA, even without T.O, that would still be a great FA, putting us in position as serious Super Bowl contenders!!!!!!!

Bolds are ones that we should seriously look at!!!!!!
Maybe an under the radar center since Bentley would want a lot of money.

Bold are key guys

There are a lot of good OTs in this draft and the good ones can start right away w/o needing help. Up to Ireland to identify which OTs (in either first or second round) can start for us at RT right away. But no more FA money should be spent on OL except to land a good FA center. We've spent enough unsuccessfully on OL; we got to build an OL. Should spend first day's picks on OT, WR & FS but not reach for any of them. Sure would be nice if somehow Cowboys could pick up another 3rd rounder.

I hope you aren't in the war room. Whatever problems we have at RT, I'd hate to see us use a first for that position. Unless one of the top 2 guys falls, I think we'd get much more value later.

The talent level would have to be comparable with someone like Shawn Andrews (who we were going to take in 2004 if he was on the board).

If RT is the target, I'd expect a trade down -- likely with someone who falls in love with Lendale White.

All I have said is it is an option that could present itself to the Cowboys. I leave many option open and do not close my mind to any other option that may present itself.

Those additions would make me a happy camper, and none of them are that unlikely.

I agree, it is either or; Tackle via draft and Center via free agency or vice versa but both will not be free agent signings. Nor will FS, too much money tied up in the D. backfeild already as is with the O-Line. Only thing i do disagree with are your first day picks personally believe that LB will trump WR as far as needs on draft day.

What are you talking about? If McNeil slips to us and is healthy, the boys must scoop him up. 2nd round tackles don't usually outperform 1st round tackles. It does happen, but it is not the norm. There is a reason a player is chosen in the first round and not the second.

Yeah I like Kevin Barry at RT. The kid is a bruiser! He is a killer run blocker but needs some tuning on his pass protection, Alot of upside in him.
who is this guy? tell me more.

I agree especially when talking the 18th pick and knowing our 2nd rd is the 46 player in the draft. If McNeil or Scott is still on the board at that time I would have no problem with the Cowboys selecting either of those guys.

i agree, i'd have to say that other person is way off here.

Id rather spend a bit more to get Bentley rather than getting a 32 year old head case WR, with lots of talent tho.

WHY DO SO MANY OF YOU BELIEVE THAT TO AND BP WILL WORK WELL TOGETHER!?

The guy has been in the league for 10 years, he's 32 years old, where do you see him just waking up saying, "yeh, I'm going to be a team guy".

Me first, always. He's called out 2 of his prior QB's. He never will take the blame for anything. TO is not good for this team. He already ruined 2 teams..what more do you want

I'd love Bentley here in Dallas. I don't think the Saints will let him go. Another obstacle to Bentley is that he expressed intrest for playing for his hometown Cleveland if he isn't resigned.

Because they all want to be able to put at least one Cowboy on their stupid fantasy team.
