I believe his issue with the term "clueless jokesters" is that it seems to imply that people with a sense of humor are idiots, or less aware than the more serious types. It takes a good deal of intelligence to be intentionally funny, which is why they call it "witty".

Mmmmmm? I always thought witty was wittens nickname. Guess I had things all wrong.

To quote David foster Wallace, "everything in my own immediate experience sports my deep belief that I am the absolute center of the universe; the realist, most vivid and important person in existence."

Some of the best comedians in the world are some of the most intellectual people also. It's a blend of both the left and right side of the brain. The logical and the creative blended together. Not all people have the ability to work like that. I definitely lean to the more logical side and lack a true creative side. I would definitely like to be more creative, but with creativity generally comes at the cost of reason in many cases. (of course, most great comedians do not lack the reason portion!)

In my job, I cannot afford to lack reasoning skills. That would turn into a dumpster fire quick!

I took notice when I turned 30 (a few decades ago) the years would fly by. There are several weeks a year, where I just relied on muscle memory to push through. Life is short, and it's not supposed to be lived that way, but it happens from time-to-time.

If people realized how small and infinitesimal they really are on the grand scale of the universe. It would become more apparent and shake them to their core how wrong their view of what life is and really means.

The Milky Way Galaxy is 100,000 light years across. That's light years. Light travels 187,000 miles per second (not hour) and there are 31,536,000 seconds in a year. (31,536,000 seconds X 187,000 miles * 100,000 light years) If the entire Universe were the size of the Earth, a single grain of sand would be larger than the entire Milky Way Galaxy I just described in size.

Think about this how big, powerful and destructive an atomic bomb is. You wouldn't know someone set off a nuclear blast somewhere (not near you) in the United States unless someone told you.

We have virtually no affect on the Universe, our galaxy, even our solar system. The one thing we do affect is the planet itself, but the planet is so infinitesimally small. We are just cosmic dust floating in space. I have no way to derive meaning from that. Therefore I do not even try. My life is in there here and now. So I live it and fight to ensure I'm happy because in truth. Happiness is all we can hope for.

In my experience, it's not so much that creative people lack reason, but rather that their emotions supersede their intellect. Therefore, they can solve problems when they have no vested interest, but they often exacerbate problems when the outcome has a bearing on them.

I have always been creative and that takes a momentary lapse of reality to another place and the trip is in the blink of an eye. Letting the creative take over as a filter and process the information and make decisions is where it gets very tricky. I have to be aware of my impulses and try to respond not react to anything that I have to make a decision about.

My sons filter information differently, one through logic and reason, like my Dad, and the other like me, through emotion. I have to be aware of that around him because it can elevate quickly with two filtering through emotion. And not odd at all, I get along with the other one a lot better because while he is processing, I can make adjustments to what I said before it escalates,

No good or bad way to be, creative or analytical, but I would choose creative because after all of these years and so many mistakes, I recognize that and how to best use it. I didn't used to feel that way but finally accepted this is who I am. Besides that, creative people do not need to be entertained, we do that for ourselves. While we are often seen as absurd and nonsensical, it all makes sense to us. You only go around once, why not a hand buzzer and whoopie cushion for the trip?

After more than 30 years in medicine and 50 as an adult, I know 2 things for certain: 1) There is a heaven
2) This isn't it

Bad things happen to good people -- not because it's part a some master plan, rather due to the randomness of life.

Of course, one event begets another, and people faced with tragedy and adversity are frequently inspired to do things they otherwise would not.
Why are you certain there's a heaven?

I've always been creative as well, and while I have a fairly intelligent brain, my heart is a moron.
