Serious question about our defense

Now i love to breakdown football, especially defense and i am impressed with the minds of Dick Lebeau and Bill Belicheck. But my question is this........Why when we bring Roy on a blitz on the left side of the opponents offensive line does he sometimes just drop back and sit there when there is not another offensive player even on that side? The running back is sometimes on the other side and Roy goes at the offensive lineman and then drops back. Why does'nt Brian Stewart tell Roy to drop back into the MIDDLE OF THE FIELD?That play makes no sense to me. Its like playing 11 on 10. Has anyone else noticed that play?
AHHH. This site is messing up my spacing. But i would hope somebody else noticed this since people on this site always wanna cry like babies about Roy. Cry about Mr. Stewart and Wade. Hes up at the line of scrimmage doing nothing.

I noticed this too. I'm not sure what is supposed to be going on, but it doesn't seem like it's working. I'm sure everyone will say that Roy is terrible and we should bench him though.

I think Roy's supposed to blitz, but once he engages with the linemen he knows he can't beat him so, he kind of just sits back.

Roy isn't even a good blitzer anymore. I remember all the HOF talk after Roy's rookie year. Man, how times have changed.

either the person shopping for the groceries did not do as good of a job as people are trying to MAKE us believe...or Wade is not the answer. Because we have only played 2 games against a decent offense this year and we got pulvarized in both of them. And I am going to say it once more...only ONE person on defense is living up to his draft status..and that is Ware. Spencer gets an incomplete.

Spencer has been steadily improving and now playing much more natural--isn't taking so long to think about what he must do but is doing it. Later this year, if he doesn't hit the rookie wall, we might really see a glimpse of the future best OLB pass rushers in the NFL. Throw in a more healthy Ellis and we could have something going as this season moves along.
