First off I will say I think Zeke is a great back. Guy can do it all on the football field.

That said, I have a question to the sign Zeke at all costs crowd. Say Zeke is looking for 5-6 years. 14-15 million per. About 50 million guaranteed. Say that’s what we are talking about. Say Pollard continues to look strong and Weber and Morris look good. Say the OL goes back to 2016 form.

Do you still want to sign Zeke at those numbers?

I will just say this, I think a deal will be worked out and while I think Pollard is a nice addition he is no where close to the talent of Zeke. If I had to take a guess I would say it would be a 4 year deal

I respect you guys. Smart and Honest football fans.

Let me add another wrinkle...at those numbers you risk not having room for a Jaylon Smith. Take a look at the 2020 contract situation for the Cowboys. It is scary. Team could look really top heavy.

You guys want him at any cost, huh?

Our best option is win the Super Bowl by 2021 that way it’ll be easier to let some key guys walk

Zeke is a million times better than Weber and Morris, and Pollard has never been a lead back in his life.

Those numbers don't cripple a franchise. Paying Dak $35 million per year could, but overpaying Zeke by a couple of million is not going to hurt.

Let's be honest, in this offense, paying Zeke that is a helluva bargain.

If the Bengals stink and kick Andy Dalton to the curb, how about the Cowboys tag and trade Dak and we can get Andy Dalton at 15-20m per year?

You can't seriously think we can compete for a championship anytime soon without Zeke? Remember how ownership tried to talk us into the fact that we had a serviceable group of receivers last year before the season started? This is the happening all over again at the RB position. How did the WR situation end? These problems were and will be solved in panic if we don't solve it sooner.

Tag Jaylon

Did I say they can compete for SB without Zeke? Where did I say that? I asked a question. This team can’t win a championship with Garrett coaching. Not if Jim Brown was playing RB and Montana at QB.

Well the NFL is now really a passing league. So when they argued we could win with a bunch of JAGs at WR, they were mistaken. But teams have and continue to win without having an elite TB.

So yes, I think if the Cowboys did their due diligence and were good at scouting, they could find competent backs in the middle rounds to run the ball well and then we wouldn't be blowing tons of cap space on a TB. But I largely realize that they are going to pay Elliott so it is what it is.

Not really a relevant question as far as I'm concerned, because even if the guys currently in camp continue to look good, it would still take a very large assumption to decide they could come close to replacing Zeke in the regular season. None of these guys seem close to the all around RB Zeke is, much less the talent level.

I'm certainly not in the "sign Zeke at all costs" camp, and I hate paying Zeke that much too, but we have to be realistic when looking at the options.

If Pollard looks amazing then I wouldn’t worry about it as much. Elliot is a great player but has to mature.
