This team is pretty much the same team that went 13-3 two years ago. Yes, we got rid of T.O. but we added felix jones and roy williams. Roy is not a bad receiver and has better hands than T.O. that is for sure. Our special teams have been dreadful the last few years and this in my mind is what this draft is all about. Why waist a pick, ala carpenter in the 1st , pay him good money to be a special teamer. There was so much drama last year, which we all knew was going to happen sooner or later, with T.O. on the team. He is a great receiver no doubt, but he does bring baggage, i.e. san fran and philly. This team has enough talent to at least win the nfc east, i mean really who ever thought the giants would win the super bowl or arizona would go to the super bowl. It is all about chemistry including great players. Lets give romo and williams some time to work on their chemistry. There is a reason offensive of players are rarely traded before the deadline for that reason. So before we start saying how bad this draft was because we have a bunch of no namers, lets first see how it plays out. With the additions and "Subtractions" we made this year in the offseaon we should be better as a team. Honestly, it all comes down injuries, if romo never gets hurt and our punter does not break his foot, which was a key loss cause our other punter sucked, we would have made the playoffs and who knows what might have happened.

We got beat like a drum in the last game of the season with the playoffs on the line. Romo was back.

I don't think our punter is worth 30 pts a game.

This team has very little "heart" in it. It starts with Wade.

I'm not too worked up over the lack of excitement in this draft. The way I look at it, if Parcells, the Eagels, or Patriots had done the same thing, everyone would have said it was genius because the third and fourth round is where you get the most value and bang for the buck.

seriously, "cowboy way", you could probably have counted on one hand of the people in the world that thought we had a chance in that game. You obviuosly did not get the jist of my post. without team chemistry you are not going to win anything, and our locker room was divided well before that. no a punter will not make up 30 points but when you lose a pro bowler who pins teams deep, field position is critical.

I don't think so, but even so, those teams have a track record of successful drafting. Jerry Jones does not.

But i do agree, this team did quit which was pathetic. It does not help though that you have players trying to get teammates to take sides. T.O. is not all to blame for this. Athletes should try something new and keep it in house, good luck on that.

Who is the #2 WR ?

Last year all I kept reading about is how the Cowboys had so much depth...a year later I still don't really see it.

And without TO or RW (Safety) they are not a better team. Thing about RW was not that he was so great, but that opponents feared him.

RW WR is still an unknown. In todays NFL he is a #2 at best IMO. He has the skill set, but his heart is lacking and it wont get any better until he takes ownership of his play on the field and decides to step his game up.

We lost that game before we stepped on the field. The Eagles had everything go their way for them to have a "chance" and then the impossible happened. The Raiders won a road game. The crowd was jacked up and so were the players. Playing at Lincoln is tough enough, let alone the circumstances that occured before hand. When the Raiders beat the Bucs I turned to my friend and said "we are getting blown out".

No professional team with SB aspirations, and who supposedly has the talent we have EVER think like that. EVER. And thats the problem.

To say "We lost that game before we stepped on the field", is nothing more than an excuse. Something Wade would say.

Maybe teams feared RW (S) at one time, but it certainly looked like some OCs schemed to take advantage of his sometimes limited coverage skills. I think (and might be wrong) that no one has yet signed him.

Wouldn't a "feared" big-time safety be snatched up? I know that it'll be awhile before someone does sign him, partly because of the time of year, but RW3[18] is not the player he was when he was drafted, for whatever reasons, and those have been beat to death. ;)

Good point. I should have prefaced it as "he was...until last season".

However with a banged up secondary and still some weaknesses and youth back there RW was not the only one to blame for the OC's game planning.

He has a pitiful agent. There were 4-5 teams that had interest in him, but he wants to make more than he is worth/they are willing to pay him.

Every player has liabilities. RW's got exposed and the bleeding just started to hemmorage.

I disagree about RW the safety. I loved seeing him on the field. The Cowboys will be better in that spot no matter who fills it. I agree that RW the receiver is still a big question mark.

Whilst I agree to a point romo was not romo when he came back and I think he was still playing hurt.

Add to that romo was there but not there from the point of view the smile was gone, he was no longer enjoying the game

One thing I hope we got this off season is the fun loving romo back as he can frustrate but boy can he play

Our abundance of turnovers didn't help matters either. The turnovers started the ball rolling down hill and we couldn't stop it on the road.

Call me crazy, but I've probably followed the Cowboys (and the NFL in general) longer than many of you have been alive. I strongly believe we're closer to the 13-3 team in 2007 than the 9-7 team in 2008. Why? Injuries to key positions played a big part. Losing Romo killed us and he never appeared "right" the rest of the year. Losing Felix Jones took away one of our biggest offensive threats. The T.O. drama sucked the life out of the locker room and caused a LOT of turmoil on the team in general. Witten played hurt all year. He was still good as always, but he was injured all season long. Flozell played hurt all year. We had to play our 3rd team guard most of the season. Newman was hurt off and on all season and we had to rely on two rookie corners (very good rookies with a lot of potential, mind you). Pacman, and to a lesser extent Tank Johnson, also caused a lot of distractions.

And the main reason: the team came into the season far too overconfident, thinking it was just there for the taking. Even after the playoff loss to the Giants the year before. (I think everyone knows we should've won that game) This year the team will be hungry and I think will exhibit much more heart. Why? I think they were embarrassed last year, as they should've been. I also think they know this is a make or break year for them, especially as far as being a Cowboy goes. I just think, barring severe injuries, we will be the team we all thought we'd be last year. Call me an optimist....call me a homer....call me whatever. Just wait and see.
