Setting the Tone

I LOVE the fact that we're playing the Super Bowl champs in the very first game this year, and it happens to be against one of our hated division rivals. I remember that was what set the tone for our first Super Bowl run with Jimmy, laying the wood to the defending champ Commanders.

If we are able to come out and put up a solid "W" against the Giants, I really think it could be a springboard for this team and we could see greater success than we've seen in a LOOOONG time.

Man, I agree. I'm not predicting Super Bowl or anything, but this season, for some reason, the sky is the limit. The vets are primed to lead this team to great things.

Love the optimism!

The only thing I've ever asked for is to be able to go against the best with a fully healthy team and see what's what. That is why I love season openers, because having a fully healthy team after that can be so frustratingly rare. I thought we flat out owned the Jets in the opener last year but as was a theme all year, a few key plays made all the difference in the world.

I am very confident heading into that game. Romo, Dez, Austin, Witten, Demarco, Ware, Sean Lee, and a much more talented secondary, all fully healthy and ready to prove something? Game on.

I was hoping for this matchup in week one. For all the reasons you listed and one more........they aren't all that good. I expect us to go up their and kick their ***.

I get your point about being healthy, but my unscientific recollection is that we haven't been fully healthy for season openers the last couple of years.

The secondary in 2011 and I want to say we opened short on O-line the year or two before that.

Nevertheless a big-time opener can be fun if we rise to the ocasion as we did last year for 3/4 of the game before, well, you know...

Maybe I should say, "as healthy as can be expected." Yes, you're probably right, but I'm willing to bet that's the healthiest we were all year. It only goes downhill after game 1. Except for a few rare exceptions.
