IMO I don't think it's even close. Sewell, Slater, and Pitts are guaranteed pro bowl players if they stay healthy. Surtain Jr. and Horn could be a busts or he could be an above average starters. The Cowboys can't reach for a need in this situation. I would be ok with a trade down scenario but I don't think there is good value for a CB at 10. One of those three guys (most likely Slater) will be available at 10. The Cowboys invested a lot in Dak so Slater would be a great selection. He will be a perennial All Pro at guard and will be a borderline Pro Bow LT. Whatever is needed. Tyron's Smith's injury history makes Slater a great selection. The Cowboys are great at drafting o-lineman (Tyron, Frederick, and Martin) and have a dubious history drafting CBs (Claiborne). They should stick to what they're good at. I wouldn't mind Asante Samuel Jr. in the 2nd round. They should also consider signing Casey Hayward to a 1 year contract so they won't be tempted to reach for a CB.

Ehh Sewell and Pitts I agree. I don't think Slater is a top 10 player and I do think Surtain is. I'd rank them Pitts, Sewell, Surtain, Slater, and Horn. I wouldn't be disappointed with Slater at 10, but I think he's in the 12-15 range and I've definitely got Surtain 2-3 slots higher.

Surtain, Pitts, Chase, and Slater would be value picks Sewell would be par. Of those Surtain and Pitts are pro bowl talents. An interesting note, Amari Cooper was rated higher than Chase 7.1 vs 7.05. In draft grade terms that's quite a bit. The knock on Slater has been arm length but it turns out Sewell has short arms too.

I would GLADLY take Surtain if Pitts,Chase and Sewell are off the board.
To add. Im in agreement with these three players. I would put Surtain's value on par with Slater and the tide WR duo. Chase, Pitts and Sewell to me are you guys you consider taking in the top 5. Surtain, Waddle, Smith, Parsons and Slater are all guys you consider taking anywhere from 6-12

Honestly Sewell and Slater makes biggest impacts to the offense because it brings protection for Dak and opens the running game for Elliott.
Pitts is a luxary and yes hes a stud BUT is he really needed NO now if any of these three are drafted I'm fine. Surtain and Horn are one player
for the defense and yes we sucked but their overall impact minimal compared the the Offensive line for example. We have a lot of really good
draft positions so taking a OL in the first round want kill us because we should come back in the 2nd through 4th rounds and be able to land
some solid defensive players like 5 of them in total. I'm a strong believer we need to sign KJ Wright LB on a two-year deal. He will be a nice player to add.

This about what wins games. Hint it isn't corners.

I think Slater and Surtain are on the same level.

Surtain has been really really good against top competition for several years in a row. He's not going to all of a sudden not know how to play in the pros, or face different caliber athletes. He's proved himself against them already. Slater, though he plays a more important position, isn't guaranteed to stay at that spot and hasn't played football in a year. He's no sure thing.

If it comes down to these two, take the player you need most. That's Surtain.

Slater might be the most overrated player discussed on this board.

I think Surtain can't cover Pitts, Chase, Smith, and Waddle. He would get destroyed in a those matchups. I'm sure he got smoked regularly in practice.

Surtain absolutely is worth the 10th pick. No doubt. I’m not sure where people have gotten the idea that he’s some safe, not that talented guy. He has just about everything that you could want in a CB prospect, and is both physically and mentally talented.

I’d take Pitts and Sewell before him but that takes nothing away from Surtain. He’s a great prospect at one of the positions that the NFL values the most.

As for Horn, 10 might be a tad high for him but if the other guys I like were already taken, I wouldn’t hesitate to pick him at 10. He’s going to be a really good corner in the league for a long time. Maybe even better than Surtain.

I’d probably try to get some value in a small trade back but if I couldn’t get that, I’d take him at 10.

When he gets drafted at 10 you’ll have plenty of time to ponder these doomsday coverage scenarios.

Not going to get a much better cb prospect than surtain. Slightly better possibly is all you got realistically with those other guys.

However surtain plays a premium position at the highest need on our football team.

he checks all 3 boxes

You nailed it. And sewel also plays a premium position.

Pitts plays the lowest ranked position in football at the biggest bust position. No chance am I taking a te in the top 10. Let some other team trade up for him if they want.
