I know most will focus today on how poorly the team played but I could not help but to be excited about the job of Romo. Much like the game against Buffalo I never felt we were out of the game and with 2 min left I had no doubts that Tony would lead this team down the field for the TD. I have not had this feeling about a Cowboy QB since Roger was behind center. I think in the long run games like this will pay off for the team as players will start believing that they are never out of a game as long as Romo is in the game.

Romo really delivered yesterday when it mattered most.

It's been a long time (at least it feels that way) since we've had a great QB in Dallas.

I just can't wait until Romo gets Glenn in the fold as well.

Can you imagine the WR screens, deep posts, etc. ,etc. We could use him in so many ways potentially. He can do all the stuff Welker does for the Pats, but Glenn can also be a home run threat and force coverage off TO, Witten, and our other threats.

Being 29, I am not as familiar with Staubach as I am with Romo, obviously.

I had my doubts in the game, mainly because I didn't think we had enough time when we finally got deep into Detroit's side of the field.

Some of the clutch throws he made to Witten and Sam Hurd during the final drive, in particular were insane.

Which is why this was shades of Staubach. With the odds stacked against you Roger could pull victory from defeat and after a while players both offense and defense always believed no matter what that as long as Roger was in the game we could win. I think the Romo is showing this same ability to perform at a high level when the chips are down.

I did see Staubach play, and there's no question that Romo is similar in being able to pull a game out that we had no business winning...that was a great drive yesterday to win that game

Aikman could bring us back also but Romo is very similiar to Staubach.

Romo will be a legend in these parts before he retires.

I was thinking the same thing. As much as these types of games drive us crazy they are also very exciting and help to create that sense of confidence in the QB that no matter what, as long as he is in the game, we are going to win. Guys suddenly step up and make plays when they weren't before, and we pull a win out of what looked like defeat.

This is another great time to be a Cowboys fan! :starspin

As Tony said these are funs situations but you don't want to get into these games too often. I loved how he told Witten after the fumble at the goal line to not worry about it because he was going to get another chance. Sure enough that chance came.

Romo also is taking on a bigger leadership role. Staubach had noproblem with getting on guys if they were not performing and his leadership on the field inspired guys to keep playing hard even when down.
On one particular sack Romo had against Detroit, the blitzer came up the middle. It looks like we were trying to set up a screen because Barber let the guy go free and he got Romo before he could scramble out of the pocket. If you watch after the play Romo goes over andtalks to Barber about blowing the assignement. He does bawl him out but its the first time I've seen Romo openly express himself after a blown play. Not that offensively he's had a lot to be angry about this year anyway.:)

Dooms, I was going to post the same thing.
The young fans are seeing what it was like to be a Cowboys fan when Staubach played.

If there was enough time left, we still had a chance to win!

I remember being down 13 with 5 for 6 minutes left, and Staubach took us down and scored twice to win it at the end.

With Romo, I have the same feeling.

Yesterday, we were at a Buffalo Wild Wings sports bar and when we got the ball back the last time, I told my son, "I like our chances", .. and he agreed.

We are witnessing the birth of the great 'Tony Romo' !

No doubt about it, give the man the ball back with a little bit of time and he can pull out the win. Hopefully we don't put ourselves in these situations too often but it is nice to know that a game is never over until it is over. No one at my house felt Dallas was going to lose when we had 2 min and the ball.

Yep, Two great drives by Romo and he did both without TO, with the Lions taking him out of the game.

While I am not happy about the defensive play it is nice to have this kind of game winning drive late in the season. This type of thing can be very valuable come playoff time. Youy have the confidence to know you can get it done, even with no timeouts.

One thing I was honestly thinking after Witten fumbled was that if we could stop them it may in the end being the play that actually causes us to win the game. If Witten does not fumble and we score on the next play Detroit has about 5 minutes left to mount a drive using 4 downs (going for it on all 4th downs I mean), which we would have had trouble stopping and very well could have put themselves in postion to have a game winning FG with no time left.

I got the feeling at the end of the game, like I did when NE beat Baltimore, that it was just destiny kind of thing, especially with the bounce after the Romo fumble!

I agree, but I don't see Staubach, I see Montana.
