Shanahan could be Romo's Yoda

We know it's been discussed on this board a lot...but let's delve into what he could really do for this team......and most importantly Jerry's favorite possesion........(no not the new stadium).........Tony Romo.

Contrary to popular belief Shanahan is a run first coordinator. We've seen this guy turn off the street running backs into stars. With the three running back we have currently I could see us leading the league in rushing. With Shanahan I could see Felix topping 1600-1800 yds, if healthy. I think Felix is that good.

A good running game always makes the quarterback better...just ask Elway, Eli, and Aikman just to name a few SB MVP's.

He would also teach Romo the virtue he has lost, or really never had....patience. To me that's what Romo is lacking the most. He is always looking to make the great play, instead of making the safe, smart play. Hey we all love the bomb....but if you can get 5 yds...take the 5 yds.

Shanahan could turn Romo IMO into the top qb in this league....Shanahan loves a QB with feet...and Romo has it. A lot of people say Romo is like a Jedi....but he is still in training and has a lot to learn from a master.

We all remember "the catch" when Clark caught the ball in the early 80's for the 49er's. We remember Elway throwing another 100 td's with that same play. The question is does Jerry know this? Romo would be fantastic with that play and the bootlegs, naked bootlegs, and with Mike Shanahan in his corner.

He would be held accountable for his play...when he came to the sideline he would be told he screwed up.

IMO if we want to be in the SB any time soon.....we need a Yoda.

Jake Plummer had the three most productive years of his career with Shanahan.

I'D say Shanahan would be a boon for Romo.

If Shanahan gets hired the biggest thing I hope for is a coach that gets in a players arse when he screws up.

I think we need Shanny right now. Waiting for 2010 will be a huge mistake. This team will implode by 2010 if Wade is still the HC. This team will kill one another without a real chief. The players want answers and a philosophy they are confident in. Shanny would put balance back into this offense by utilizing a dynamic running game and letting loose T.O, Witten and RW at the right times. Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal are not anywhere as talented as our WR corps but boy did they get better results at the WR position.

How do you argue with Shanny's results with QB's, an offensive line and pretty much any structure of rb's he's used.

I agree on not waiting. It would just be another wasted season.

He made a poor QB look pretty decent (Plummer). He would make our good QB look like a VERY good QB. I'll take that. Shanahan would be a good fit here.

don't get me wrong, out of all the changes that make sense to me, shanahan is the right call.

i'd not demote wade to D because we already went through a power struggle. don't set yourself up to do it again.

that would mean garrett gone also.

there's no good way out of this mess. maybe giving it a year is our best bet if shanahan will wait it out.

then if garrett has a good year, will the IGS demand we keep him?

The myth that won't happen but is very possible and makes so much sense? Especially because we don't have to give up this years draft to get him and could get him under $5 million? Doesn't sound like the McFadden myth to me. Phillips as DC and Shanny as HC would be so ideal for the price, especially if Garrett gets a HC gig which seems to be Jerry's biggest reason to keep this staff beside the boy crush on Red, not continuity. Shanny and Wade doesn't keep continuity?

Those that actually think there's a chance of that happening are smoking something illegal. If Wade isn't HC here, he's not going to be employed here. There's just no way in hell that's going to happen. You aren't a HC one year and then take a demotion and come back to the same team the next year. It just doesn't happen in this league.

I also think Garrett would end up having to go as well. They run very different offenses. One is part "Air Coryell" and one is a WCO.

I like how everyone is swinging from his nuts just after he's been canned. Denver haven't been to the playoffs in three years, its not like he is going to come in and instantly make everything better.

I can't believe my reaction to that, but three years sure seems like yesterday to me right about now.

He can't help but be an improvement over Wade.
