I know I'm a minority here but I'm feeling confident about this game. Just think if our defense shows up.......we win. The thing about playing the 49ers is you're not just playing their top offense/defensive players but also one of the best offensive mines in the game. You have to beat him, as well as his team.

Kyle Shanahan: Cowboys’ speed on defense makes them a huge challenge

Published October 3, 2023 10:21 AM

On Monday, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan was asked to explain what makes the Cowboys such a big challenge.

“Just how their pass rush — how fast they play,” Shanahan told reporters. "[Defensive coordinator] Dan Quinn is as good as anyone at the D-line. Just in general, I think one of the biggest tests for every team in the NFL is how much better you get each game because the lack of practice [that offensive linemen] get in the offseason compared to what it takes to be ready, it’s just not enough. No one’s ever there in Week 1, especially up front. Run blocking, pass blocking, you need a lot more reps of that to get better as a unit. That’s why it’s so important that in these games, the more games you can stay healthy and the more games you can play together, usually you get better throughout the year.”

He is saying , we will pound the rock
Um no. When you play against a fast defense, the key is misdirection.

That's what SF is good at, and it's what they'll do. Dallas has to actually play slower to defend SF well, but they've shown they can do that.

One of the keys of defending San Francisco is containing Christian McCaffrey's big play potential. It is ready to set off all three downs.

This is the type of game tacklers must ALWAYS wrap up. Do not be He-Man. Do not think you are a Madden hit stick. Take the man's legs out from under him (Deebo Samuels' too). Go high on him and that is almost always an automatic five or more yards you can tack on after contact.

..this is a game where, McCafy could get injured trying hard to prove something. The massive effort goes against you.

Shanahan is just blowing smoke up the reporter's butts, he knows his best way to win this game is to run the ball which is the Cowboy's defense biggest nightmare. The only way the Boys win this game is to score TDs in bunches, field goals are not going to get the job done in this game.

It is funny you mentioned that. I was talking the other day with some friends about McCaffrey not getting as hurt as often since he got to San Francisco in comparison to his last couple of seasons with Carolina. His level of effort has not dipped one iota since becoming a 49er in my opinion. It make me almost believe he was saving some wear-and-tear on himself IF the opportunity presented itself of him going to another team.

Stop the big run plays from CM, get to Purdy quick. Offense can't have any turnovers. Those turnovers last year in the playoffs were the difference in a tight game.

I have to give the edge to SF. offensive And defensive stats are almost identical, but we have red zone changes on offenses and the SF defense also has been dominant without the turnovers, so they are just getting stops.

Purdy has the highest QBR in the league right now.
Does not mean he can't be rattled. If our D comes to play like the 3 wins. They can do that.

SF whipped the Steelers who's defense is not all that great, nor is their offense.
They could have lost the Rams game, and even the lowly Giants gave them a tough game., and the Cards game was closer until the end, with a garbage score or 2.

I dont lack confidence necessarily. This game could go either way. I am much more concerned about stopping their offense than anything else. CMC, and the pass catchers give them 4 legitimate stars at offensive skill positions.

We are going to have to knock Purdy around without selling out the pass rush and exposing the run defense.

SF swill be sitting on intermediate routes since they know that is bread and butter for our offense , Dak and Max have to Take advantage of this and try some go to routes and connect early , if successful that would make SF D in 2 minds and they will play a bit back and open up underneath.

Also designed runs for Dak in RZ, Lupeke will help

And again for those with short memories.
The last time these 2 teams played Dallas TOTALLY stopped their run game.
I'll take even odds Quinn's group is ready to ball again.
From there it's not rocket science to figure out that the playcaller and QB are the keys to winning this game.

You fired the other guy cuz you got the skins on the wall and claim to be able to do a better job.
Now prove it.

Simple as that.
