I keep hearing all these talking heads talk about how McNabb is one year younger than John Elway when Shanahan became Denver's coach. Elway went on to win 2 Super Bowls. Big deal.

What the media is not saying is that Denver also had a great running back in Terrell Davis, a future HOF TE in Shannon Sharpe, and a very good O-Line.

Since Elway, Davis and Sharpe retired, what did Shanahan do?? Nothing.

Washington has lots of holes on offense. 1 year is not going to fill those holes. They need two tackles and a guard to start with.

Philly had much more talent and McNabb got smoked by the Cowboys 3 times last year. Washington will finish last again this year.

Lets face it. As long as Lil Danny is a hands on owner, any coach/ GM they bring in there is fighting an uphill battle. It would take a Parcels type, who told Danny to stay out of the way or else, for things to improve there IMO.

Who knows how Shanahan will do? But I will say the return of Joe Gibbs didn't dramatically improve the fortunes of the team. That little reminder has to weigh on Commander fans.

I wanted Shanny here, think he would be a big improvement over Wade, but so far it looks like either he is still letting Snyder run the team into the ground, or he isn't as adept as some thought. Maybe a poor owner who can't keep his hands off just simply can not be overcome.

I'm not sure Shanahan is over rated, I think he is a good coach and as for GM Bruce Allen was handed the key as VP of football operations and GM how much space Danny gives him we shall see.

Shannahan as an X's and O's guy is one of the best in the league.

But when you're talking about Shannahan the GM/personnel guy, sometimes he gets a little too caught up in his own hype does things like reach for Maurice Clarrett, Marcus Thomas or Javis Moss because he believes his magical coaching abilities are going to turn well known knuckle-heads and under-achievers around.

IMO he's overrated. I'm just not that worried about the skins. I'd like to see their run game first. If they can get that going than McNabb could definitely be dangerous. It just seems like he can't complete some essential passes and I believe our line can stop their run game without sacrificing coverage. But hey I've been wrong before, so we shall see what happens.

What did Landry do before and after Roger? Use your head dude. Sorry if it butt hurts you but Shanny is a pretty good coach.

Another coaching reputation tarnished by the burgundy and piss.

Wow, comparing qb's and different era's and 1 guy building a legacy and growing towards something and another coach starting off real strong and fading down the stretch.

Its not hurting but I would never compare the two EVER.

Who the hell said i was comparing? I said use your head. Just because the guy won 2 SBs with Elway and hasn't won one since makes him overrated makes about as much sense as saying Landry wasn't all that because after Roger left he didn't win one. Get it?

All the best coaches (and fans) know that players win championships.

Landry had Dallas playing in NFL Title games before Roger.

Landry had Dallas playing in NFC Championship games after Roger.

Landry had very good success without Staubach as the QB. Together the two of them had the ultimate success.

I only hope Shannahan uses that reasoning to convince Little Ceasar to bring T.O. to Washington. Now wouldn't that be a popcorn moment. :)

Not to diss TD in any way but there has been one back after another putting up big yards in Denver.

Great RB's?

Great O-line?

Great Scheme?

Combination of the three?

I don't know the answer but I can't wait to see what happens in DC.

True and one current Skins RB had his best season under Shanahan in Denver which is Portis.

Went to a few championships before him (including a SB) and then went to a few conference championships after him.
