He can say something like "I didn't know Shanahan was going to become available. How often can you hire a superbowl winning coach?"

Holmgren is a Super Bowl winning coach though too, and we've known he was going to be available since before the Eagles game.

Jerry's keeping Wade Phillips, for sure.

If Garrett was hired somewhere else, I could see Shanahan coming in as offensive coordinator, if he'd even be willing to do that. The guy can obviously get a head coaching job somewhere if he really wants one.

Yes, but Holmgren also made it blatantly clear he wasnt coaching in 2009.

Probably, but if Garrett leaves I wouldnt be so sure.

Shanahan isnt going to be an offensive coordinator here, or anywhere else. He'll be a HC this yr or sit out until 2010.

Every year if you like. They are always out there.

Didn't we just go down that road with BP a few years ago?

Yeah, and it turned one of the worst teams in the league into an annual contender.

What was your point?

Nothing can save Jerry's face. Not even surgeons.

Oh man that was too easy....:laugh2::lmao2:

Now to the original statement, Jerry Jones would be smart to hire Shanahan the coach, not the GM. Let me make that perfectly clear!

Just to throw it out there. What conditions do you guys think the Shanahans
of the coaching world would do here? What would their demands be?

Interesting thing John Clayton said about Shanahan last night. He said he might be interested in a Coordinator's job as opposed to a Head Coaching job.

If Garrett goes...Shanny as OC? It wouldn't shock me.

Money is tight guys

Wade is cheap and signed

Even millionaires are watching there money.

Now if the new stadium would go ahead and sell out maybe he turns loose of a those dollars.

If we're just looking for a OC i'd probably just wait a bit to see if Norv gets the boot he'd be a better fit IMO with the players we have here. As a HC though i don't want him anywhere near this team he's on a short list of people i think would actually do a worse job then Wade

I'd be ok with that. I just think Garrett doesn't adjust very well...JMO

No way i want turner here as offensive coordinator, he is as soft as good ole wade, what we need is a tough offensive coordinator, and that could we shanahan, then shanahan can look at the team first hand, see how it works, see what needs to be improved on for 2010, and go from there as head coach of the cowboys in 2010.

doesn't matter of he's soft or not as his job would be to do things like come up with an offensive gameplan every week something he's really good at, Look at the 49'ers offense the year he was OC there even Alex Smith didn't look half bad that year and their running game was superb as OC your job isn't really to go around yelling at people anyways. Norv could probably get the most out of out offense his system is very similart to what Garrett was trying to run only Norvs work and the man dealt with Mike's screming for the fooball and didn't let it effect his calls i'm sure he can do the same here without geting distracted by the players egos Norv is a really good OC

Norv isnt going to be available so the point is moot, but he is as good an offensive coordinator and play caller as there is in this league, he is also a tremendous QB coach...only a fool wouldnt want him if he were available
