Can you expound for those that can't watch the video? Is this mere speculation? Or something else?

Yeah, I'm not watching a video, but I doubt there is anything to this than the usual speculation.

No way would Shanny go there now, and inherit that coaching staff when he can wait until next year, have his pick of at least a few jobs, and hire his own guys.

Glazer said doesn't matter if you talk to a head coach, GM, team president, team owner, everybody in this league, it's unanimous, they all believe Mike Shannahan will be the next head coach of the Commanders and they think it'll happen during the season at one point. Danny flew out to Denver after the loss to the Lions although he denies it was to meet Shanny. The league office say the only thing they can do is hire him on an interim basis this year.

I also read a report where Snyder is off Shanny because he wants too much control and is now wanting Gruden. Speculation is fun but I really doubt anything big gets done until the offseason. Zorn may get fired during the season but his replacement probably won't be done until after.

Does the Rooney rule come into play? Interim exception?

Well Shannahan was born a poor black child in Mississippi. :laugh2:

Believe it or not folks, the Skins job is a premier gig in the NFL. They are probably going to have a very high pick in the upcoming draft, they have a new stadium, they have an owner willing to spend and they have a huge draw and fan base.

I think Shannahan to Washington is big trouble for everybody in the east. JMO.

Micheal Irvin on his show a few minutes ago said he's been hearing around the halls of the ranch there's gonna be a fight over Shanny between Jerry and danny after the season.

The Skins job is far from a "premier" gig in the NFL.

They have no quarterback.
They have an old offensive line with no depth.
They have an old defesive line with no depth.
To save time, lets just admit they have an old team, with little depth.

They have very few young, talented players. Cooley. Landry. Orakpo. But who else?

They have a meddling owner who has gone through 7 coaches in 11 years.

Their owner is married to Vinny Cerrato - who has shown to be incapable of building a roster.

They give draft picks away routinely.

That stadium is garbage, and in the middle of nowhere. I've been multiple times.

That's what Glazer said. He could only be interim and then they would have to interview in offseason........ I agree with the Rooney rule but lets put like a Superbowl exemption on there. If you can bring in a trophy winner, you shouldn't have to waste other people's time. Of course, the reason I like the Rooney rule is because it gives minorities exposure and experience in interviewing as well as gives them possible good blessings when it comes to talk amongst owners. Even though you weren't going to and didn't hire him, an Owner may come away impressed and vouch for that guy.

I cannot see Shanny going to Denver. I'd be shocked.

I think he is a guy who needs a more stable environment. I don't think he would come to Dallas. Too much HC turnover in the last decade for him to want any piece of either team.

Shanny and others will get any interview they want in the offseason and can go to teams where there are no meddling prominent owners.

I highly doubt this is being discussed at Valley Ranch.

New Stadium?

FedEx isn't so new anymore. And outside of the seating capacity, it really doesn't have much to brag about. Jack Kent Cooke built it on a relatively frugal budget, so it's not much to brad about, amenity wise. I've even heard that Danny may want to build a new stadium somewhere inside the District so he can bring it up to today's standard of stadium.

Don't kid yourself. The only pitfall to the DC job is having the meddler above you. He will spend money and bring in talent and with FA, you can turn a team around in a short period of time if you have the right staff.

A guy like Shanny won't care about the roster. He's gonna want to make his roster anyway. Problem is, like you say, owners only get a couple years in DC and Shanny is far too good of a coach to accept that.

Not sure why but I like Gruden much better then Shanny. I was never impressed with the way Mike handled his teams Defense, it was like a afterthought to him and he would have to totally makeover the Offensive line, the only ones who fits his style of Smaller, Quicker ones are Kosier and Free, with maybe Brewster. Just don't know about that style in the NFC East.
