Add another LB to the visits list. I really wish we could get a stickied thread up top to keep up with these confirmed visits.

May not be a LBer, could be a SS, would be an upgrade over Church. Probably a weak side LB in this scheme though. Guy would add a play making element for sure.

I do think he's a good player. Would be very nice to have in the nickle. Good instincts in the passing game and can tackle.

I like Kendricks better though and think he'll be the better LB.

All in all... if the Cowboys like Shaq, they will have a good plan for him. Him and Lee in the nickle would be about as good as you can get.

Pass over the middle or up the seams would be very difficult with Lee and Shaq in on nickel downs.

A few months ago the board would have been ecstatic at the prospect of Thompson being on this team. Now, not so much. He was a playmaker at UW and would add some speed to our LB corps. As has already been mentioned, I like the idea of him and Lee in the nickel.

Seems like we've been collecting LBs like we play the 3-4... Got like 9 of them on the team now..

Thompson is an interesting player for the Cowboys to consider in this year's draft. He won the Paul Hornung Award for college football’s most versatile player as he contributed to both the offense and defense. In his junior year with the Huskies, Thompson tallied 80 total tackles, one sack, one interception, and four defensive touchdowns.

The Cowboys could use a player like Thompson to mold for their defense. In the 4-3 scheme, Thompson would be an instant playmaker at the WILL spot. His speed and athleticism enable him to make big plays out of that position.

However, with the recent signing of inside linebacker Rolando McClain, Sean Lee will be moving to outside linebacker and Thompson might not be able to reach his maximum potential with the Cowboys.

That does leave the possibility of Thompson playing strong safety for the 'Boys. Some NFL teams believe that he has to play that position in the league.

I wouldn't like him at 27, but trade back 10-15 picks and he would be high on my list. He can play nickel downs with Lee. Those are 2 serious playmakers in the passing game. He would see plenty of playing time in this defense and thats assuming Lee stays healthy. If he doesn't, Shaq is an instant starter at Will and possibly for the foreseeable future. He could also be a 3rd safety in some packages. I think he would play probably 50+% of the snaps or so this year. The thought of Lee and Shaq covering the middle and flats would be scary for QBs around the league. He is a flat out playmaker.

LB is the deepest position on the roster right now. And by deep, I don't mean DT deep where we have a bunch of bodies who haven't proven anything. You only need two LB's in the nickel, and we have at least four guys who can fill those roles adequately.

With the said, even though it seems like LB would be a luxury pick, we just need to continue to hit on first rounders. If Thompson is the BPA and gives us a Zack Martin/Frederick like impact as a rookie, you won't hear me complaining.

He would play SS on running downs and LB in the nickel. He has Sean Lee level recognition and eye popping ability to close in on the receiver. It would be an instant upgrade in the passing game and he would play more snaps than all but a handful of players on the team, as he'd be in on special teams too. While I'd love him a lot more in the second, it's hard to argue against taking a player who will instantly improve your team.

any parallels to Cowboy Great Darren Woodson.........who came from a college hybrid LB to NFL Safety, with a lot of the same attributes as Shaq T...........the antidote to a Packers Cobb type player, to a Sproles, really help in jumping the crossing routes of the Giants young WR.........
