Thompson is an interesting player for the Cowboys to consider in this year's draft. He won the Paul Hornung Award for college football’s most versatile player as he contributed to both the offense and defense. In his junior year with the Huskies, Thompson tallied 80 total tackles, one sack, one interception, and four defensive
touchdowns.
The Cowboys could use a player like Thompson to mold for their defense. In the 4-3 scheme, Thompson would be an instant playmaker at the WILL spot. His speed and athleticism enable him to make big plays out of that position.
However, with the recent signing of inside linebacker
Rolando McClain,
Sean Lee will be moving to outside linebacker and Thompson might not be able to reach his maximum potential with the Cowboys.
That does leave the possibility of Thompson playing
strong safety for the 'Boys.
Some NFL teams believe that he
has to
play that position in the league.
