Okay I'm sure many of yall are athletes here; and we all know athletes get injuries. Please share any of your injuries to help me feel better about mine.

(I play soccer by the way aka "futbol"...yeah I'm sure most of yall are anti soccer but whatever...)
Since 2010, I have: had a 2nd degree ankle sprain twice (have sprained the same ankle 5 times since 2008), had 1st degree hamstring strains on both hamstrings, and pulled a groin that kept me out for a month.

I recently just recovered from plantar fasciatis that kept me out for 3 and a half weeks. Now I just freakin aggravated my hamstring and can't do **** for several weeks. (Maybe thats why I'm on here so much)

I haven't played competitively for 3 years (since my ankle sprain in 2008), but play indoor soccer instead in hope of getting back in my previous form to walk on when I transfer to a state school.

For the past 6 months, every morning (when healthy that is), I get up at 6 30 and train, run hills, lift weights. Unfortunately, I have a knack for overtraining and doing more harm than good.

I think I am going to turn to yoga to work on flexibility before going to my previous routine. But first and foremost, I need to heal (my entire body!)

What do yall think? Any veteran advice?

Need to let your body heal and do not over train.

I sprained both ankles numerous times but the worst one was when I was a freshman in college. Sprained the inside part of my right ankle (3rd degree). Many people thought it was shot gun going off when they heard it pop. The athletic trainer looked at it and asked me if I wanted to go through extensive rehab or he can break it so they will know that it will heal correctly. I chose rehab and it was very extensive-6 months worth. To complicate the matter I also had turf toe.

I also broke my wrist with every bone in the wrist was either broken, shattered, or dislocated. I had cast from my knuckles up to my shoulder for 3 months and then had to wear a splint for another month.

The best thing you can do is allow your body to heal now. You shouldn't be training much, as the poster above said.

You've sprained your ankle a couple times, which undoubtedly made it "loose". It increases the chances of spraining it more easily again. You need to spend a couple weeks or more in a walking boot to tighten up your ankle again, because most likely the tendons in there are stretched. Once I did that my ankle stopped giving me problems.

It is likely your other injuries are chained together by previous injuries. You will over compensate (subconsciously) for the injury and aggravate the other leg, etc.

You need to turn to yoga and massive amounts of stretching. Once you are back to full health, I recommend strengthening the ligaments and supporting muscles of your ankle. This will do wonders in preventing injuries in the future. For now, you need to lightly warm-up & then stretch for 30 minutes with 25 second stretches for each rep. Hope it helps.

My buddy is in Graduate school for this kind of stuff, I'll relay this to him and see what he suggests.
