Yeah, with you guys. I mean, I watched FSU and I just never saw what everybody else did. He picks up his assignment but he's not a guy that you watch and say, "Wow!".

In fact, most games, you don't even really remember him IMO.

i dont watch college ball so my opinion really doesn't carry much weight, but i agree with the poster above who said he'd prefer Sly Williams to Floyd. For our team and based on what I've heard discussed about each of the prospects Sly seems like a damn good option for us.

Shhhh.

The early the better for Floyd....and even better yet if a team that also might take a OT or OG takes him.

he's going very early ,the only question is where.

Here is an exert from a thread we were discussing Kawaan Short and we compared stats between him and Floyd. Stats aren't the end all.

EKentucky 1
Notre Dame 2
Marshall 1
Iowa 1
Illinois 1
OkSt. 1

Nothing against Michigan, Wisconsin, OSU, or Penn St., all teams with decent OL talent. I mean, how good is ND, I can't really answer that.

2011:

SEMoSt. .05
Minn. 1
Illinois 2
OSU 3

Again, nothing against talented OLs. Now, he did have 3 against OSU but that was a very bad year for Ohio State (6-7, 1-5 on the road in 2011) and they had a lot of players suspended/dismissed/transfer.

I just don't see it with Short. I think he has talent but I don't know that he has shown that he can produce against good talent at the NCAA level consistently.

That's interesting for sure. Out of curiosity I looked up Shariff Floyd's game log for the last 2 years.

2012
0 sacks in SEC conference play
0 sacks vs. Bowling Green
0 vs. Louisiana Lafayette
0 vs.Jacksonville State
His first sack of the year came in the last game against FSU.
He then had 2 sacks vs. UL in the bowl game.

2011
0 sacks in SEC conference play
0 vs. Florida Atlantic
0 vs UAB
0 vs Furman
His only sacks that year came against that same sorry OSU team. He had 1.5 in the bowl game.

4.5 sacks for career. 3.5 of those came in the 2 bowl games.

i don't think floyd is a elite player. he is a good player who will demand double teams in the middle but i don't think he would fit this scheme as well as he would a more traditional nt position. but i sure hop other teams see him as a savior so he goes early

:laugh2: You are absolutely right!

Sorry guys, my bad. I mean Florida but seriously, the same goes. I just never really got the impression that he was a guy who could be dominating.

Thanks for the heads up on my error ajk. ;)

He's no Star, that's for sure. At least Star was getting double/triple teamed and still produced more sacks.

You didn't notice him because he plays for UF, not FSU. :bang2:

He was on ESPN earlier today. Kiper said if he had longer arms he would be the top pick.

I believe this BUT my favorite evaluator out there is Greg Cosell and with him touting him, I respect that he sees something that translates in the pros so I'm kind of torn. Hearing some scouts in the past, I think many of them are overrated themselves as talent evaluators.

It's his potential. He's only 20, has all the athletic tangibles and will only get better from the already solid player he is.
