Revel missed the majority of last season due to a setback to his injured knee. When he came back after the team's late bye, he has mixed results. Started out well, then had struggles to finish out the year. Appeared to start losing his confidence. He never looked comfortable out there playing with that knee brace. He reportedly is now 100% healthy and no longer playing with that brace.

Coming out many respected draft insiders viewed Revel as a 1st rd talent, but fell in the draft due to tearing his acl. He has all the physical traits you seek at the position: Size, length, speed, etc. His speed jumped out at me when I saw him going stride for stride with KC's Worthy who is considered the fastest player in the league. He was more of a press/man corner in college, but has the skillset to be able to play all coverage types.

CP is known to be a strong developer of secondary talent. We all are aware of the long list of players he has developed. Revel is now his pet project. Can he get that huge upside potential out of him? Revel's development will hinge upon if they have to use another high pick at the position moving forward. He has #1 CB talent, but he is basically a raw rookie coming from a small program.

I agree. Hopefully he can be the next Pat Surtain or Quinyon Mitchell to develop under Christian Parker.

And I am of the opinion that the team is already looking to get out of the Daron Bland contract and expect him to be released as soon as 2027.

People will be surprised at Revel this year. He was the real deal in college. Finally healthy and ready to go, CP is exactly who he needs to be a great corner like we need.
He has talent. I think the OP is right, he lost some confidence. He’s also a much better msn defender than zone. The key to our secondary is just stay healthy. We have decent talent but we need them all to stay healthy

Agree on Bland. I couldn’t expect Surtain level out of Revel though. That’s higher end talent that he just doesn’t have.

Don’t forget that if the Micah draft went as hoped and also as expected, Surtain would have been a Cowboy.

Let's hope we get that player from ECU who could have been drafted higher. I hope bland plays with a chip on his shoulder!!
I feel Bland is playing to stay on the roster this season as the Cowboys can get out of his contract if he doesn't get injured.

He needs this offseason to develop, cannot have any injury setbacks during this process.

Our corners will be fine. They haven’t had a DL this good since Wade was here.

Don’t sleep on Caelen Carson either.
Still worry about our ability to pressure the QB, pressure/coverage go hand in hand.

Carson when healthy has always struggled with deep speed, if he keeps everything in front of him he is good.

I don't think they are looking to get out of his contract, but they are keeping their options open as they could of restructured his deal to create more space and decided against it. This allows them to get out of the contract, but he does have a injury clause.

Yes, healthy is huge, but they also have to speedtrack many young players development. Revel is a key part of this.

Revel might be more physically gifted then Surtain, but Surtain already was a great technician when he arrived in the league, also helps to have a father who is a former NFL corner.

...well, Eberjukes defense was a abysmal. If I'm correct, Revel did play latter part of the season, dont remember anything thrilling.

So lets hope it was the scheme and bad defense all togetther.

Which specific talent are you referring to?

Don’t forget that if the Micah draft went as hoped and also as expected, Surtain would have been a Cowboy.
Definitely. But if Revel wasn’t injured, he would have been a 1st round pick as well.

They’ll wait for him to be healthy before they release him.

Could Bland be a trade candidate during TC? Or right before the season.
Depending how many DB's they keep, at least 5 CB's, 5 S's. They may have some tough decisions to make.

They may be able to keep only 4 S's, and then 6 CB's.

S's:
Thompson, Downs, (though he will play Nickel), Hooker, Locke. Then AJ Clark or Bell the 5th S. Though I believe Bell is a trade candidate or simply will be released. Clark could be on the PS though.

So to the CB's
Bland, Revel, Durant, Moore, Kendrick, is my initial 5.
Competing for the 5th and / or possible 6th spots.
Steward (who they tendered), Carson, Butler
Butler who they seem to have liked will be a PS guy. So who gets that 6th spot if they keep 6. Or can one of them beat out Kendrick.

So if Steward and Carson shine in TC. Would they trade Bland, and keep both of them, and Kendrick if he is what they want as well.
