Darn you all to heck. That was going to be my quote.

Wasn't a quarter of the player once he had to dump roids.

If any of you have got time there's some absolute gems in this thread
Merriman vs Ware....what was our draft dept thinking?
http://www.cowboyszone.com/forums/dallascowboys.php?t=44144

Ware may turn out to be a Pro Bowl player. Merriman is going to be a once in a lifetime player.

Ware deserves all the bashing....Ellis received it....Ek...took it....Pittman took it...

From a pick that high.....he needs to produce.....is it the system?....coaching?.....but as Bill said....scheme is overrated....good football players can play in any system...

So far...IMHO...Ware...Burnett...Spears....have all been disappointments.
Cut this guy some slack..long term he was right on 2 of the 3

...and don't mention it to Cowboys coach Bill Parcells. He wanted to draft Merriman this year, but owner Jerry Jones tilted toward DeMarcus Ware. There was a furious debate the morning of the draft, and guess who won? Yep, San Diego.

The first two seasons, all you heard was Merriman this and Merriman that. Until he got caught on roids and hurt, then he hit the wall production wise.

Ware turned out to be the once in a generation player.:D

Hey but those folks always know more than the people actually paid to do the job of scouting.

Of course I bet the majority of those folks who wanted Merriman instead of Ware won't admit to being wrong either.

Lol. I was just lucky to get in first. I'm a sucker for the softball punchline.

It also could be Wade Phillips leaving SD.

Ulimately injuries did him in more than mis-evaluation. Yeah, he was on PEDs, so is 70%+ of the NFL which is why neither the NFLPA or Goodell will touch HGH testing with a 100 foot pole. Does anyone really believe that JJ Watt isn't roided out of his gourd? The guy went from delivering pizzas after an uneventful career at Central Michigan to the most physically dominant player the NFL has seen in decades in the span of about 4 years, and his head is the size of an asteroid.

I agree. Plus it isn't as if Merriman quit using PEDs after he got caught.

Highlight of his career was smacking a drunken Tila Tequila.

The guy has an insane work ethic.

Hard work isn't that rare of a commodity among professional athletes, but I guess you would to work insanely hard to grow your head to the size to a basketball, so he must work uniquely hard.

Goodell pushes when he wants to put pressure on the players to sign off on a completely unrelated issue. Once the players comply with completely unrelated issue, he never brings it up again.
