TLH (thelandryhat.com) has a great article about Shea McClellin, and an enjoyable vid to go with it. I know there're many Zoners here who like this Boise State OLB/DE prospect, me included. This is just to add to the discussion. If we go OLB in the 2nd, McClellin would get my vote.

Quick bit from TLH article:
Plays fast with very good football quickness and agile footwork.
A high effort and energy rusher who plays with obvious passion

and intensity — relentless and tenacious motor.

Totally on board at #45, if he's there.

A while back I was hoping he could be had in the 3rd but with talk of him recently going as high as the late 1st round there is no way he'll be there.

The guy looks like he has a lot of room to grow and in an NFL training program I think he could blossom.

Seeing him now in the late 20s on some reent mocks...not going to happen.

There is going to be nobody left at pick 45.

The draft actually ends at pick 44 this year.

And to think he'd been projected to go in the 5th or 6th Round originally. Just heard Mike Mayock saying he thinks Shea McClellin will go in the 20s, like you said.

It's all so fluid, but McClellin has been climbing steadily up the boards. So I highly doubt he'll be available at #45, also. Is he worth considering moving back up to grab, or better to stay where we're at in Round 2 and take the best of whoever IS there?

I wouldn't move up for Shea, but that's not a knock on him. Great prospect.

You sure you stepped into the right thread?

Here is my McClellin mock:

32 (1-32) OLB Shea McClellin
45 (2-13) CB Josh Robinson
54 (2-22) OG Amini Silatolu
68 (3-5) OLB Bruce Irvin
94 (3-32) OC Philip Blake
113 (4-18) Ladarius Green
135 (4-40) WR Ryan Broyles
152 (5-17) DE Akiem Hicks
186 (6-16) ILB Miles Burris
222 (7-15) CB Coty Sensabaugh

Trade #14 for Lions #23 and #54.
Trade #23 for Bucs #36 and #68.
Trade #36 and #81 to Giants for #32 and #94.

I definitely like the ideas in this draft but I'm not sure about drafting two OLBs that high. We may be better off going DE in the 3rd with Crick instead of Irvin but I"m okay with any draft that picks him up. We'll just have to find a way to get him on the field.

I'd rather than Egnew who is more of a true TE over Green who is more of a large WR.

Otherwise I like the trades and I like the draft ideas. I only wish our FO was this inventive and enterprising.

He really does. This guy is legit. I've almost convinced myself he's worth the #14 pick, but people would go nuts that it's bad value.

I'm of the opinion that if a player fills a need at a high level, I'd pull the trigger on it...this guy is definately a disruptive force that we desperately need

He is on the radar only on a trade down into early 20's. He will not get out of the 1st.
He just makes plays. I see a young Kevin Greene in the works.

Talk the Pats into 27 and 31 for 14 and you can get him and Fleener or Silatalou.

Back on 1-22 before this kid was ever mentioned before the 4th or 5th round I was singing his praises.

Actually had him in my first mock on 1-12

Listed him as my favorite sleeper on 1-17

AND NOW SOMEONE WANTS TO STEAL HIM FROM ME POSSIBLY IN THE 1st ROUND!

SCREW YOU NFL!:D
Would you take him at 14?

Cox, Barron, DeCastro off the board, yes

I think he is every bit as good as any OLB that we have mentioned at 14.

:laugh2: You were on top of it from the get-go.

At least you selected one of McClellin's "co-conspirators" at Boise State, Billy Winn, as your 2nd Round Mock Draft pick, SDogo. He's really good, also. Between the two -- if I could only take one -- I'd still take McClellin ... and that's not meant to be a knock on Winn by any means.

SDogo's MOCK DRAFT:
RD1: Mark Barron | S | Alabama
RD2: Billy Winn | DE | Boise St
RD3: Ryan Broyles | WR | Oklahoma
RD4: Leonard Johnson | CB | Iowa St
RD4: James Hanna | TE | Oklahoma
RD5: David Molk | OC | Michigan
RD6: Ronald Leary | OT/OG | Memphis
RD7: G.J Kinne | QB | Tulsa

Winn is still flying under the radar if you ask me. He's is going to be a pocket pusher from the DE spot in a 3-4 at the next level. He's the guy we all scream about needing at DE that people like to say does not exist.
