I hated Buddy Ryan...but I sure like his D. From what I have seen of Rex...bring him on.

The Buddy thing has been to many years ago.....;)
I agree

Buddy thought of the cowboys as being the glamour team and his eagles as being bulies of the yard. so he did have an extra disdain for dallas.

But. that was many years ago and fans hold onto this kind of stuff more than coaches and players. A career is still a career and even though it takes love and emotion for the game to excell at it, at the end of a game the players and coaches still know that it is all part of the daily grind.

I hated Ryan too, but his defense was dominant, eagles fans that watced games with me felt more confident of scoring when the defense was on the field at times. If the eagles had a decent offensive coordinator at that time they would have won some SB's. I think that at one point that was the most dominant defense in the history of the nfl.

Would Love for Ryan to come to dallas

Did I miss the memo that Garrett will be our OC? I thought his position on the team up to this point was undefined...maybe thats for the next HC whoever that will be to decide.

We received permission from the Chargers to interview Phillips. I doubt Jerry went through the trouble of doing that only to hire Garrett as HC.

I didn't say that I thought Garrett would be promoted to HC. I haven't read everything that has been posted on Garrett yet, but is he for sure going to be put into the position of OC or assistant HC? Since hes undefined, couldn't that mean that whoever is brought in as head coach could define his role on the team?

Well, he has to have a promotion from QB coach, otherwise we'd owe compensation to Miami.

You guys do know Bill Cowher played his whole carrer with the BROWNS.
Hated the Steelers as a player! I also think he's from OHIO.

How ironic.

The Eagles have the conservative, senior, classy head coach. (Landry)
We get a trash talking classless Ryan.

Not saying Rex would be or is classless.
I do know if he was, Eagle fans would envy us.

i believe cowher is from pittsburgh PA and grew up a diehard steelers fan....

Tons said after the star incident, owens would never be a Cowboy.

I didn't like the owens signing nor will I Ryan.

Dave, I am gonna have to go get you some happy pills. :)

Rex should increase our sack and interception total. But I believe Rivera would increase our sack, interception, and turnover totals.

shefter is like 0-437749875892752 this offseason with his stories on dallas. it might be all those "signs"

Ah...the good ol days.

Ryan was peeved that during the '87 strike the Cowboys with several regulars playing beat up on his Eagles. A year later, the Eagles had the game wrapped up in Philly, and took a knee. The next play, they faked taking a knee and threw a TD pass instead.

Then the next year Dallas hired Jimmy Johnson and Buddy ran his mouth about there not being any Rutgers, etc in the NFL and took a bunch of jabs at Jimmy. On Thanksgiving, a game dubbed the "bounty bowl", Buddy allegedly put a bounty on Cowboys players rewarding his players if they took ours out.

Dallas had the last laugh though, because he never got the Eagles to the Super Bowl and Jimmy went on to win two, including beating the Eagles on the way there a couple of times.

It was a great era of football because the coaches were combating as much as the players in one sense.

There is no way in hell that Buddy Ryan's son is coaching this team. No FREAKING way.

I think he's a great choice but the history there is crazy.

I heard the same thing about Parcells coming here back in 2002.

I think it's much more likely that Rex Ryan could be our next head coach than it was for Tuna to be our head coach in 2003.

I think Roy Williams is somewhere hearing this and just drooled.

Yeah, but he was the one predicting Parcells would leave when everybody else was saying he was going to stay.

I'd be a bit surprised if Garrett was the head coach given his incredible lack of experience and looking at him to be the OC indicates that the next head coach will be a defensive guy. I could see Ryan or Wade Phillips.

actually he predicted both, as did PFT.
