He does not have the weight and size to be more forceful in the run game. He is the kind of guy to develop for the future, not to make him a starter. Cowboys in past only started rookie LB's who were drafted in 1st three rounds, like Dexter Coakley, Bob Breunig, Darrin Smith, Ken Norton, LVE, Dixon Edwards, not an underweight 5th rounder

How is it Damone Clark doesn't even get a sniff. I have seen better from him in past years then any of these linebackers. The fact he doesn't get played makes me think it is also Eberflus fault and needs to be fired immediately for any of us fans to have hope for the future.

He was a 5th rounder who shouldn't be expected to be a starter. He wouldn't be if they had anyone better.

As with all day 3 players, they need a full off season to get ready for the next year. He is no different.

There are some signs of him being a decent player. He makes a couple good plays every game.

trust me, Clark is fine right where he's at!!
Yes I know he wasn't the future but a good coach finds what his players do good. Damone has experience and some speed. Why not rotate him in certain packages. Eberflus was historically bad head coach with the Bears now historically bad defense with us. Last thing we want is him to have any say in next year's draft because he couldn't develop a team in Chicago so he won't pick the right players for our D. In fact wasn't he here with Marinelli when we picked Taco over Watt?

No you haven't.

My point isn't about Damone it's more I just don't see Eberflus getting more with what he has. Quinn had Bell looking decent as a linebacker in his scheme and now he looks terrible. The mantra on him with Chicago was he always said they are sticking to the plan but the plan always failed. Sounds awfully familiar. He seems very stubborn and likes to put keep trying to put a square peg in a round hole over and over to see if it eventually works

Eberflus tried playing Clark earlier in the year, but he proved he had zero instincts, etc.

But Eberflus is the problem. The players lack talent but they shouldn't be this bad. I think the players hate their DC, very possibly with good reason.

Thanks didn't know this guess he is a bad example then but it just seems he doesn't get the most out of his players and is very stubborn. He feels like Temu Marinelli.

I like James and I followed him closely at Florida.

His reactions are horrendous, and he pays like he is wearing scuba fins. There were numerous plays where the Cardinals dumped a pass off for what should have been a 2-yard gain. James always hesitates and it turns into a 12-yard gain.

Not understanding which hole to fill is his issue, not his weight!

Quinn had better players and three years here.

Bell had moments as a LB in Quinn scheme, ultimately he got exposed as being too small when it mattered most (not his fault, Quinn played him out of position). What we're seeing now is he's simply not that good, not fast enough to play in space as a safety.

I think considering how bad the LB play has been, it makes sense to try something else. They are willing to do it at DT and RB, but for some reason they insist on playing Murray.

And by the way, isn't it ironic that they are playing around with personnel at DT and RB, the two positions we knew were problems coming out of last season, and two positions that were the strength of the 2025 draft class? There is a neon sign above the Cowboys offices that reads "Incompetence Lives Here!" and everyone sees it but the guys in the building.

He just needs to learn.

He has good technique and seems alert.

Sanborn is beat up and I dont look for him to be back for awhile.

He did, but also took over Nolan's defense which was the last historically bad defense we had. The players are definately a problem but also think Eberflus is also a problem. I just wish we fire him and hire someone whos scheme is a multiple defense.

There were some good LB's on the board when they drafted. James was not it. Kiko Mauigoa was the pick.
